Must Have Jdm Crankbaits

I lost the better half of my moving baits at the launch last week and Im looking to replace them. 

 

Im planning on adding less than what I had but I'd like to try out some of the JDM treble lures.

 

I have 2 Megabass Pop X (bass and white python from TW) on order as I've read great reviews and was wondering what else I should try out. Anything from Lucky Craft, Megabass, Jackall?

 

I'll probably add a few jerkbaits and a squarebill soon and maybe stock up over the winter. I'm a plastics guy and I dont think I've bought a crankbait in 5 years so I'm out of the loop!

Lucky Craft is my hard bait of choice.  I use them more than anything else.  They have recently dropped some of their prices which makes them even more attractive.  I like Megabass and Duo Realis as well.  

 

Check out the Lucky Craft LC and RTO series for square bills and Pointers for jerkbaits.   No jerkbait collection is complete without a couple of Megabass 110's too.

 

Some of these baits aren't technically JDM as they are made for the US market but they are still Japanese companies.

Man, I'm all about the Duo's. That Crank 48sr in Chartreuse Gill Halo is bass candy on a light rod. All their baits are very high quality in terms of components, action, paint, castability (that little 1/4 crank has an excellent magnetic weight transfer system that works every time), and the bass absolutely smash 'em! Cant wait til jerkbait season rolls around so I can put my Duo deep running jerkbait to the test.

The Megabass Knuckle is a killer squarebill!!! I have a bluegill pattern one I've caught many fish in it. I don't really like the bill adjustment to shallow mode as I use a snap for trebles and it likes to get hung up in it. But either way incredible bait! The Ito 110s are great jerkbaits as well but seeing as how I have hooks I prefer for jerkbaits paying premium doesn't do it for me. I tend to use Rick Clunns, Ima and Duo Realis. That's pretty much all my experience with Megabass. I have a Python Pop max as well but never got a bite going on it.

I agree. I have quite a few of their cranks and all of them are top shelf. Great hooks, excellent finish, they run perfectly out of the box. I agree the 48sr is great. I use it lethally in our shallow rivers for smallmouth. I also love the Spinbait series, they catch fish in very tough conditions.

Yeah, I think they actually use owner stingers on many of them. That seems to vary among the same baits, sometimes, but they are always excellent hooks. You gotta love the spinbait. My favorite is the standard 80. That slow sinking death flutter just drives not only bass, but any kind of perch, crazy. I've caught some big lmb, but also bluegill, crappie, pumpkinseeds... Good times. It just sucks when you lose one.

Add the Jackall Aska to the list. Its a great squarebill and probably my favorite JDM crank. You did good on the popx, that's one of the best topwater poppers period. Maybe add a pop max as well, its a great 1-2 punch when used with the popx as it offers a bigger profile with the same great popping action. I've heard the Evergreen combat cranks are supposed to be the deal but I've never fished them. Now that tw has them in stock I may try a few but the problem is I cant seem to put down the spro rock crawler when it comes to cranks, I just keep landing tons of big fish with it.

Oh yea it does. I recently had stuck a Shinmushi on some kind of rope in the water about 10ft off the shoreline. I stripped down to my shorts and went in after it. Hopefully none of the cranks get hung, I made myself a home-made lure retriever though. 

 

I've had great luck with their jerkbaits also are awesome. Great action and casting distance

Check out the Jackall Soul Shad and Pompadour (and Jr). The soul shad is a very similar to the Shad Rap. The Pompadour is a new topwater bait that causes a lot of commotion.

Ha ha, that's me too. If you catch some idiot's trotline, it's either dive in or lose it. Never underestimate the value of a good plug knocker.
