chmeyers Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Anyone have any good largemouth Bass spots in Chesapeake? Looking for good shoreline spots? Ive tried Oak Grove Lake park with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted September 21, 2015 Super User Posted September 21, 2015 Welcome aboard! I'm on the Peninsula, never fished the South Side but we do have some folks here who fish there regularly, perhaps they'll chime in! Quote
Brayberry Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 What part of Chesapeake are you in? Message me, I just moved to Carrollton from Portsmouth, and found some good local spots Quote
chmeyers Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Im in the Greenbrier area. I haven't had much luck around here. Then again, Im just getting back into fishing after 20 plus years. So its probably a combo of poor technique and poor spot selection. Quote
VAHunter Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Most of the ponds in Chesapeake are full of nice bass. However, they are no different than public water fisheries, sometimes the fish just don't play. Oak Grove has some very nice bass in it. I used to live very close to it and fished it often after it was opened to the public. Right now your best bet there would be to fish very early in the morning along the shore that parallels the Great Bridge Bypass. The bass school up there and chase bait early in the day. The ponds that surround Greenbrier Mall also have some great fish in them. My buddy lives on one and his son has caught many over 6 lbs. By the way, all those ponds are connected as well by tubes under the road. I would suggest checking out Google for other potential waters close to you. Then you just need to start knocking on doors and asking for permission. Good luck! Quote
