bigbassin' Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Is there any locations in Ocala National Forest open to shore fishing? I've read online you can wade fish in the creeks but based on the amount of gators I've seen in the surrounding bodies of water I'm not really sold on that. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 20, 2015 Super User Posted September 20, 2015 Thousands of pits all over.. Big fish as well. I've waded & shore fished a bunch of them, put in Jon boats etc.. Get you a solid set of paper maps or some other mapping system. Plan a trip & start a journey of learning which water is viable. You are right to be concerned about gators.. But don't overlook rattlesnakes either, I've killed some huge ones. Coral snakes are around.. You may even encounter a black panther.. Just sayin.. Quote
RAMBLER Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 If there is water there are, alligators and water moccasins. Walking around in the swampy brush and weeds, on a shore line, can be dangerous to your health. There are fishing piers at the Rodman dam. You can fish at any of the public landings, just a good idea to stay out of the way of people launching boats. Quote
