desmobob Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I couldn't recommend anything but a Ducati. My 900SS SP turns twenty years old this October... I bought her new in 1995. Tight lines, Bob 4 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Dang it boy. Homie said, "screw you guys, I'm going home." I see all three of those happening actually. Bubble wrap and heavy clothes would be the way to go. I get the mental image of a bouncing Michelin man on a dirt bike. My buddy also said I should buy you bubble wrap. I say screw the Michelin man. We get a all white suit and over stuff it. So you can look like the stay puff marshmallow man. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d8/Stay-puft-marshmallow-man.jpg Quote

It is an amazing bike. I'm not digging the 103 though. I'm checking into whether they can do a CVO 112 motor on it. I really don't want to bore out and rework a motor on a brand new 18000 dollar bike. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted October 2, 2015 Super User Posted October 2, 2015 Yup rode on the frozen trails with ice screws in the tires on the dirt bikes. The snowmobile guys thought we were nuts. Doing 100mph down the straights in the woods all I seen was the green blur on the sides of the trails. The old Husqvarnas were quick. Doing 150mph on my 1200 Suzuki tricked out bandit was fun. But at a certain speed the cars in front of you are coming at you. Your coming up on them so fast. Was addicted to speed had to give it up. The Japanese bikes are so fast and smooth. Quote
MDBowHunter Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Custom Ducati Monster. Write the check already. IMHO they ruined that bike in a big way, they took a bike that will out handle most jap bikes and threw that big ole tire on there. Ill agree it looks cool but If im buying that type of bike its not going to be for the cool factor. Thats why I own a Harley!!!!! If I'm getting a bike like this I want it to be nimble and super fast it will still be fast but it will turn and handle like crap. Not something I want one of the baddest bikes out there, again just my .02... Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted October 3, 2015 Super User Posted October 3, 2015 FWIW, I located my original bike, a 1998 Honda Shadow ACE Tourer. Think I'm buying her back, she's not big and bad but I had allot of fun on that machine. Probably park it in the living room. 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 3, 2015 Super User Posted October 3, 2015 I had fun spanking the young punks on there rockets. Then they seen I was an old guy. I just laughed, somebody had to do it. The Agusta F4 has been my dream bike forever. Quote

It was my 2nd and last bike. Got rid of it in 1999. Too many close calls and lost 2 buddies in 2 years. Always liked the cruisers, it wasn't about speed. Pic is before I got old and fat LOL kids are 26 and 23 now 1 Quote
68camaro Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 One of the coolest set ups i saw was a dude who used to come into the outdoor shop i worked at on a regular basis. He was all about the bike touring and had already ridden from Louisiana to Alaska a few times. He swore by the BMW touring bikes and had the whole heated suit deal too. Said he was toasty as could be even when temps dipped below zero. Dude was crazy though... I don't ride but know a guy who is a serious touring biker as you describe, he and his touring buddies all had BMW's. Great looking bikes. Quote
