My 2012 FLHTK is lonely. I need to get it a friend. I tend not to care much for Rice Bikes so those are pretty much out. I'm thinking of perhaps getting a nice European bike to keep it company. Perhaps a Ducati Monster, Aprilla Rally, or a BMW. Any of yall have any suggestions.

PS. I love my Harley. I just spent 13 hours on it and put a little over 1000 more miles in two days on her. The stock seat is garbage and will be replaced with my next check. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

You need to show me the Rally. The only pics if found of it. Was some sort of moped. As for a ducati. They are made for little Italian people. I would think you would look like this ridding it.

Aprilla Caponord 1200 Rally

The Ducati Monster 1200 R is an absolute beast of a machine. Plus I can take it up north and ride it on the ice too. So it's multi functional.

Lmao over that picture too.

One of the coolest set ups i saw was a dude who used to come into the outdoor shop i worked at on a regular basis.  He was all about the bike touring and had already ridden from Louisiana to Alaska a few times.  He swore by the BMW touring bikes and had the whole heated suit deal too.  Said he was toasty as could be even when temps dipped below zero.  Dude was crazy though...

I knew they made heated snowmobile suits. Never thought of bike riders using some thing like that. With a heated suit. You could ride in till the snow fell. Not bad since most people put away the bike in October. You could get another month to two months of ridding.

I am sure this would be a fun ride. Turn up the heat turn down the heat. I am to hot. Turn up the heat I am to cold.

You must walk before you run. Learn to drive on the ice with 4 wheels first. Once you can master that. Then it is time for a bike. Might I suggest a 1000 dollar dirt bike vs a 15000 bike.

The bait monkey is bad enough, but his cousin the bike monkey is outrageous.

By the way Raider didn't you mean perusing rather than pontificating?  Pontificating is getting up on a soapbox and orating.

"

pon·tif·i·cate
VERB
  1. (in the Roman Catholic Church) officiate as bishop, especially at Mass.
  2. express one's opinions in a way considered annoyingly pompous and dogmatic:

Number 2 fits about 99.9% of Raiders post.

Tipptruck1 nailed it. I pontificate. Often rather loudly.

Also, the Bike Monkey is a PITA!!! My fiancée will be the first to tell you that. Apparently helmets are not the same as hats. Also helmet stickers have a limit to the amount applied, and the content of said stickers is not up for debate. Also there is apparently such a thing as too much chrome and too little chrome. I can go on and on with the lists.

2013 Dyna Wide Glide. Blue with blue ghost flames.

I traded her in for my current bike. I miss that Dyna for bopping around town. She was horrible for long rides, However, she was awesome around town and on short trips.I put close to 4000 miles on that bike between September of 2014 and May of 2015.

I'm a bit leary of taking a car or truck onto a frozen body of water. I know it's done all the time. I just see myself hitting the thin patch and going splash...

I do get were your coming from. Even I don't trust the ice. Funny thing though. More 4 wheelers, and snowmobiles fall through the ice around me. Then big 6000lb trucks.

A few more things about ice. It hurts when you fall on it. I bruised my tailbone on ice a few years ago. You can also get ice burn. Just like road rash it kills.

Ice burn you say? I figured it would be a little more forgiving then asphalt. That's weird about the smaller vehicles falling through more often then the teucks.

Custom Ducati Monster.

Write the check already.

I want that bike to be my wife.

Yea It sucks. As for the falling through ice. It is basic physics. The bigger the foot print. The more the weight is distributed

I was telling a friend about you today Raider. I told him I have a southern friend that wants to Ice race on a bike. He laughed as soon as I told him. The more we talked about it. The more we want to see it. We picture three things happening. 1. As soon as the race starts. You will drop the clutch and just spin. 2. Because you are now ticked. You will carry to munch speed in to the first turn. Then crash on the first turn. 3. You will be more ticked, and crash in the next turn. Then will repeat crashing in till the race is over.

You now need to come up. Becasue I think I could win 10k with that. I will split it with you 75-25. If we win.

Also take a look at this. Make sure to watch the whole video.

Dang it boy. Homie said, "screw you guys, I'm going home."

I see all three of those happening actually. Bubble wrap and heavy clothes would be the way to go. I get the mental image of a bouncing Michelin man on a dirt bike.
