My fav technique is topwater. A BPS Rick Clunn reel on a 6-6 Lightning Rod, 15# mono, Chug'n Spook Jr or Chug Bug.

This is not really a good reel or rod, but sensitivity is not necessary for topwaters and the reel can cast heavy lures great with t15# Big Game. The action of the rod is just right for trebles with mono. I also use it for crankbaits when I use them.

 

My fav combo is a BPS Johnny Morris reel on a Falcon 7' MH. This combo is a lot better quality that the rest of my arsenal. I use it for frogs and T-rigs. Strong reel and extremely sensitive rod. The rod is supposed to be a heavy crankbait rod. But it feels perfect for these techniques. I wish I had 5 of those reels. I bought the whole combo used for $100, separately. If I had bought them new, they'd be $260 regular price.

I love to throw weightless plastics in the summer and fall. My rig for that is a Kistler KLX 6'9" finness jig and tube rod w/ abu revo and 12lb sunline fc sniper.  I can throw a weightless trickworm with no problems and it will sail a weightless fluke like nobodys business! Unfortunately that rod is discontinued and I'm not sure what will replace it if need be.  Texas rigging plastics is my other favorite technique and I use an Abu Garcia Villain which I got from FFO for $80.  This is the best rod for the money that I've ever owned.  More sensitive than my Rage rods by far.  Its a mh fast but plays more like a heavy and is perfect for throwing plastics. I have a curado 101D with 14lb sunline fc sniper mounted on it and it's a perfect TR worm rig for me with sensitivity to spare!

This year, I am having tons of fun using a stradic 2500/6’8 MH GL2 Jig & Worm rod. 1/8 or 1/4 Jig head using a single tail grub. If I am having a bad day, then rig up tiny zoom fluke in smoking shad with a drop shot setup. I can catch all kinds of stuff with it…haha.

My absolute favorite this year has been the drop shot by far!  I have been able to catch them deep, shallow and everything in between on that thing this year.  7'm spinning with 15lb braid and a 6-8lb leader.

My lews lazer baitcaster 6ft 6 rod in medium with a fast tip and 12 lb Berkley flouro.My spinning outfit is a Abu 6ft 10 Vigilant with a lews reel and 10 lb mono. I have alot others but these two get the most use.I wade rivers most all the time for Smallies and Largemouth and these two make great combos.Baits mostly Rage Craws Spinnerbaits and Cranks.I recently used the Rage anaconda and was really pleased with the results.Heck of bait.

I'm setting up my baitcasters as we speak with new rods.

i love to flip and fish and my favorite though not my most expensive setup is this one a curado i series 200hg on a dobyns extra heavy with 80lb braid
