Does anyone here use any of the Loctite epoxies for gluing hardware (hook hangers, bills, etc.) into lures?  Which of them (if any) are suitable for lure building and which should be avoided?  How do they compare to Flex Coat epoxy glue in terms of strength, water resistance and workability?

Thanks in advance.

I use Loctite as well other brands.  As far as glue strength for installing hardware, any epoxy glue will work just fine.  The only reservation I have with quick cure epoxies (Loctite or Devcon 5 Minute) is they will turn brown over time.  So you don't want any on the outside of the finished lure where it will show - like around the lip slot, for instance.  That's why I use Devcon Two Ton to install lips.  But for gluing in ballast weights, hook hangers, or joining bait halves on cranks with thru-wire construction, quick cure epoxy works fine.

Ben,

I use the 7 min loctite and the rod builders epoxy.   Cure time is the only difference that I've noticed.

I'm just going to be using it for gluing hardware, not top-coating. Also, I usually glue in the bill before painting so the epoxy turning brown wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks

Ben

I haven't used the flex coat but do use several of the locktite and devcon products...  just be sure to read the labels as both makers have some the are water proof and some that are only water resistant.
