Right, ok, it's not so much that I think those things are not worth it, it's that I want to get a handle on what they actually are. I can walk a Storm chug bug or a Heddon chug'n spook (although I don't use walking baits very often). Does a Pop Max walk better? Does it walk $10-$12 better? Spitting and chugging...I'm not sure what better vs. worse actually means for this sort of thing. Does a high end popper have better durability? I've got old hula poppers and Rebel Pop-rs that have taken a ton abuse, over many years, and still catch fish; I see no evidence they lack of durability.

Do you see what I'm saying? I'm not against paying more for a better lure. I just want to get to the bottom of what the added value per added price over the ol' cheap stuff actually is.

All you have to really do is hold a popmax next to a popr and the quality of the popmax will show through. For the last month the popper bite has been awesome here in the am, and I fish with a buddy who won't buy top dollar lures. He uses a rebel and I use a popmax and I generally out fish him 2 to 1, he's using a silver and black popr and I using a MB sexy shad popmax. So with these results I'll keep using the top dollar lure, proof is in the pudding for me

I have ricos that I like.

However...just got a duo realis popper and I like it more!

Duo spits like an old Johnny Reb sitting on his porch. Pops well and walks well. Does more than the rico plus has a feather tale. The rico has a loud rattle though.

I have a lot of poppers in different styles and colors affordable ones. I figured I'd expand my selection with a few more expensive poppers.. I think I have some high roller stuff too.

I favor Yellow Magics, Splash-Its and Rico's.

^^This^^ ... Hard to argue with these high end popper choices !

Zell pop, splash-its, river2sea bubble popers , and duo realis 64 are next on the list to try.

It will be very interesting comparing the action and quality of all of the highly sought after popers. I'll fish any brand as long as it works well for me. Including the carrot that was previously posted. I'm not loyal to any brands. I'm just addicted to blow ups and hook sets.
