Zinch32 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I've always used a spinning rod for tube jigs, but am curious if it will work on a baitcaster. Thanks for the help! Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 15, 2015 Super User Posted September 15, 2015 I do it . I use a 1/8 to 1/4 ounce bullet weight and t rig them . 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted September 15, 2015 Super User Posted September 15, 2015 Nope, it won't work. Tube jigs are strictly to be used on spinning tackle. 3 Quote

papajoe222 Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 80% of the time I use a baitcaster for my tube fishing, but I rarely throw a tube that isn't at least 3.75in. or larger. Between the weight of the jig and the tube, I don't have issues with using baitcasters. The rod you use is more of a factor than the type of reel. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 15, 2015 Super User Posted September 15, 2015 One of my favorite follow ups to a missed buzzbait blowup is a texas rigged tube in the same color with an 1/8oz weight. Works very well for me. 1 Quote
NathanW Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 If I am fishing water less that 12-13 feet I will throw them on a casting rod. When I am stroking the tube I will use heavy mono or copoly to slow down the rate of fall which I cannot fish on spinning gear easily. 1 Quote
Smokinal Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I do it . I use a 1/8 to 1/4 ounce bullet weight and t rig them . Yup yup. I vary the weight depending on the wind and depth I'm throwing them in. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 16, 2015 Super User Posted September 16, 2015 Any particular reason why you think they won´t work ? Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 16, 2015 Super User Posted September 16, 2015 A parasite worm weight will keep the weight next to the tube and keep the tube in place . Quote
