John M. Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I have the luxury(if you want to call it that) of traveling all over the country for work. Some of my biggest savings come from the Northern states like Montana, Idaho, and the Dakotas. Scheels and dicks sporting goods have been good to me up there. Im always finding great deals on hard baits and rods. Bass fishing isn't to popular in these states so the species specific stuff tends to go on sale quite often. Went into a Scheels in Montana and went right for the clearance rack. They had about 40 Storm Arashi crankbaits and squarebills marked down for $1.25 a piece. Original price on them is north of $8.00. So I bought everything they had plus some Rapala husky jerks for $2.00 and some misc plastics. The arashi aren't my first choice in a crankbait but at that deal I couldn't pass them up. I now have every color and every size of their entire crankbait line and they have put quite a few fish in the boat for me. And if I lose one, I don't worry to much about it because I probably have a spare or two. A DSG in Albuquerque had a sale on fishing line. Buy 3 spools of Power pro braid or Trilene get one free. And they were already marked down over half off. So I walked away with 3 spools of power pro and one spool of trilene xt for $28 bucks. Scheels in Omaha has a decent deal on Megabass vision 110 jerkbaits. $19.99 a piece as well if anyone is interested. 1 Quote
Mwelder28 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Got my first Curado in a similar way. 23 bucks at a pawn shop. Cu-200. I saw a cu-100 Curado too. Quote
JOBU1967 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Only 1 of the 3 DSG in my area had gen.1 Veritas rods on sale July 2014 for $60. Quote

Super User Darren. Posted September 18, 2015 Super User Posted September 18, 2015 DSG's one of the best stores for discounts and even extra surprise discounts at checkout. We've bought bikes on clearance that were even *further* discounted when the cashier scanned the barcode. Same thing for a multipurpose game table, and other stuff. We love DSG Quote
Jaw1 Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I have bought quite a few $50 citicas and $75 curados at gander over the years. I stop in just to look for deals like this even when I'm not in the market for anything. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted September 18, 2015 Super User Posted September 18, 2015 I am always hunting for sales. Just picked up VMC spinshot hooks for $1 a pack. Took all the #1 and #2 hooks they had. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 18, 2015 Super User Posted September 18, 2015 my pet ducks especially enjoy Duck's Sporting Goods. There are many sales on bread and feather shampoo that they seem to enjoy. My second kindle is failing. The spell check changes my words. I'm sorry I catch it sometimes but I miss it too. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 18, 2015 Super User Posted September 18, 2015 Don't forget our online sales with reduced or free shipping too everybody wins. Quote

The only fishing stores that we have in NJ other than mom and pop is Wally World and Dicks, as Cabelas, gander don't seem to want to open a store in the most dense state lol Quote
