NotnatsSamoht Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Looking for suggestions for prop baits, most of them are over $15, besides the heddon torpedo Iv only found the H2O express slush daddy. Why so few budget options with prop baits? Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 TheDevil Horse is popular and inexpensive . 4 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 The H2O bait is a great bait. They have 2 versions, the Slush Daddy and Slush Minnow. I have both and they both work. I like the Slush Daddy more when they're feeding heavy on bluegills. Hard to go wrong at $4 and $6 apiece. 1 Quote

I got a couple slush daddy's to try, I like the h2o express baits so I figured they would be good, haven't got to try them yet. Quote
NotnatsSamoht Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 TheDevil Horse is popular and inexpensive . I'll have to give them a try Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 There are larger spooks that have props single and double. Check "over stocked bait & tackle" (sale) I'm not sure but they may have them. Check ebay for used lures. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 Torpedo But most prop baits are made of balsa hence their cost. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 The Devil Horse is popular and inexpensive . Often overlooked and under used. 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 I like the floating minnow baits with props on them . I bought several Bomber Prop A's when they were discontinued . Bagleys use to put them on the Bang O lures ,they may still make one . I dont know if any makers are manufacturing them today . My single best day of fishing ever was with a Prop A in post spawn conditions . edited. Bagleys spin tail Bang O lures are still available . I saw some on amazon . Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 Checkout, brannans bass shop online. I think they have prop baits listed in there topwater section. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 Dang man, I don´t know where you are looking for them baits that you only find 15+ bones a pop, actually I´m pretty shure 90% of prop baits available in the market are less than 8 bucks. 2 Quote
wisconsin heat Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 H20's are alright. The Slush Minnow comes with hooks that are on the small side. And the bluegill one is fatter than I expected, but both baits still work fine and make a commotion. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 Another vote for the Heddon Tiny Torpedo. 2 Quote
desmobob Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Heddon Torpedos are pretty affordable, and I think the Smithwick Devil's Horse is the least expensive of all of the name-brand prop baits. They work very well! Tight lines, Bob Quote
JeziHogg Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Hands down, my best performing prop bait is the Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop. Little on the higher side of a "budget bait" but these things are the cats meow. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 12, 2015 Super User Posted September 12, 2015 My favorite prop bait . The discontinued Bomber Prop A . I have a couple used and three in reserve . 1 Quote
DaleGribble Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I too like the yozuri 3db prop bait. Come in good colors and the props make good noise/splash with the slightest twitch. 3 Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Cordell sells a couple of inexpensive prop baits that've been catching bass for years. The Boy Howdy and a smaller bait that I believe is called a Crazy Shad. 1 Quote
poisonokie Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I too like the yozuri 3db prop bait. Come in good colors and the props make good noise/splash with the slightest twitch. That and the popper are the only 2 3db baits I don't have, but if all the others are any indication they are top notch in terms of action, durability, and everything else. Quote
lo n slo Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Hey scaleface, I found these old Bang-O-Lures in one of my boxes. I gotta baby bass one too......somewhere around here. 1 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted September 14, 2015 Super User Posted September 14, 2015 I dug up three more . The Dalton Special is one of my favorite topwaters but I dont want to use this one . Hoping some day to find a well used one to fish with . 2 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted September 14, 2015 Super User Posted September 14, 2015 The Bagley Bang-O-Lure has 2 versions, they have the spin tail jerkbait and the Bang-O-Lure twin spin prop, both are killers!!! The Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop is just incredible, it has a single rear plastic prop that throws water really well and has a very distinct sound, right now we are hammering smallmouth on that bait and they are only $8 and $9 bucks but my local Cabelas just had them on sale for $6.99. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 14, 2015 Super User Posted September 14, 2015 Rapala Skitter Prop works great for me. 1 Quote
