Super User bigbill Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 I ordered 9' minnowbaits(hard), assorted affordable inline spinners for river fishing, assorted wordens inline spinners, more plastics, Mann's Indiana classic spinnerbaits. Another order at mister twister. They have some great buys right now. You can get more for a $ if you shop smart. I want to still hunt the new state record for LMB, but also want to catch great northern pike and big chain pickerel. Quote
Last_Cast Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 good luck! looking forward to hearing you get that record! baitmonkey gets me every paycheck Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted September 11, 2015 Super User Posted September 11, 2015 Bait monkey is on your back?? You're in the right place, my friend. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 11, 2015 Super User Posted September 11, 2015 You know I have caught big bass on a lot of different lures . I would say most every category of lure I own has caught multiple large bass .I can only think of two right off hand though that have consistently caught bigger fish on average than the rest. The Jig and Pork and the Bomber Long A Minnow. So if a state record is what I was after those are two lures I would surely be packing . Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 11, 2015 Author Super User Posted September 11, 2015 The bigger Rebel BIGCLAW CRAWFISH CRANKBAIT that dives to ten feet caught my PB10# casting it parallel to the shoreline that's a drop off two feet from shore. As I ripped it through the weeds into the open channel she hit it. The rebel crawfish crankbaits are hot. I use the chartruese in the springtime into the summer. The bright red one has also caught bass. I just never took the time to try all the colors. My ponds/small lakes the natural crawls are black backs with red sides. The river craws look like the stream color rebels. The dead empty bodies are a beige color. I fish the Housatonic river up in falls village and in one area the shoreline is covered in dead eaten craw bodies. I have no clue what can eat that many. This is a wild area. Lots of timber, and forest land. Ok back to the op my next hot bait is the topnocker by bps. Just twitch it, 1-2-3 then pause. Walk it near the pads. I'm looking for a replacement bait for it since its discontinued. To me tossing a small 1/8, 1/4oz inline spinner with the smaller bass can be a fun trip too. The rivers are full of bass up to 3lbs here. Don't exclude river fishing. Make a note; behind every rock sticking up out of the water the pool or backwash behind it usually has fish in it waiting to score food. Sometimes I cast on the rock and let the spinner drop in the pool. Sometimes catching many dinks can be fun with a few larger ones inbetween. But in the shallow running rapids the bass seem to average 3lbs being the biggest. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted September 11, 2015 Super User Posted September 11, 2015 Bait monkey is on my shoulders today. He's whispering in my ear that I need to order that JDM Stradic if I expect it to be here in time to be my wife's anniversary gift! Romantic, I know. Quote
