There not junk there really innovation.

When Ray Scott designed a rod for this reel I bought one of the first combinations directly from

him. It was a piece of junk and subsequently recalled. ghoti has the reel now. I would be interested

in hearing his take after he has worked on it a bit.

I'm sorry I'm still sub standard and not accepted.

I just like to fish with different older stuff.

I do have some quantum code red baitcasters. I can fish with my $12 shakespear baitcaster so I figure I could fish with anything.

I still have my $0.99 Chinese baitcasters setup too. Lmao.

But they look like clones of the black max.

I bought one of the supercasters when they first came out. Think I paid around $170 for it and never had any problems with it,caught plenty of fish and a buddy of mine still uses it. I bought it more from a curiosity stand point than anything else. It worked fine didn't see any added casting distance but it didn't give me any problems. I own or have owned reels from just about every manufacturer so there no loyalties here. Fish what you like and have fun it's all just fishing whatever you use.

I'm retired, bored and want to tinker around trying different fishing equipment. Just something to do. I like the wave bar line guide.

Sometimes I think I was better off with my 70's southbend rod with the chrome eyes and a quantum Wal-Mart reel.

I like trying different brands. After surviving cancer I can't take my money with me when I leave here.

I can fish with anything but I need good quality line

Bill although the tone of an interweb conversation can be hard to figure, I think what is being said is the advances in reels over the last few years makes the older stuff primitive by comparison. Not that there's anything wrong with that! The reels I use on a regular basis are sill functional, but there are many newer ones that are much better for very reasonable prices. If you want to collect US Reels or anything else, more power to you. If superior quality at reasonable prices is your goal the newer reels are light years ahead of most of the older ones.
