I just received four brand new US Reel super caster baitcasters from a fellow member. I figure to add a few of the U.S. REEL models to my museum collection. Some will get used too.

Since the U.S. REEL company has been for sale who knows if we will see them again.

There not state of the art high tech reels but there designed in the USA. They were manufactured here. SOme models are assembled here. But there made over seas now. To me there unique.

I have shakespear baitcasters I still use often. New old reels. My first bass caught with a jig n pig was caught on this setup. My better baitcasters are quantum code red. I know I'm still in the dark ages.

What I don't wear out my kids will someday.

Instead of buying 4 crappy, out of business reels, why not buy 1 good one?  I mean, I could care less what you buy, I just don't understand buying junky stuff, especially 4 of them.

Yes I agree with you. I will buy a better baitcaster if I could find one with the advanced wave bar line leveler system..

But I believe from an engineering stand point the U.S. REEL super caster baitcasters are or were way ahead of there time. There is no one hole line leveler. They used a rotating wave bar. There's less friction with the line when casting. The pro 1000 and 1000 models have a height adjustment on the wave bar. Very smart unique idea. You can raise and lower the wave bar to the amount of line that's on the spool. I think they were way ahead design wise. I'm very surprised no other reel manufacturer copied this design today. If the single hole line leveler guide is off to one side there's more friction on the line. This can't happen with the wave bar line leveler there's no hole fishing r the line to go through.

There not junk there really innovation. Far ahead of there time. I could see making a few changes to bring them up to date.

I think they could run with the big dogs.

I think the one hole line lever is a very antique design every time I look at my other reels. Why does every other manufacturer follow the norm. We need some new advanced technology.

The only thing I see on some baitcasters is the hole in the line leveler is a vertical slot now.

How can you say that?  If you've only ever owned Shakespeare and graphite Quantums, how do you know what "running with the big dogs" even means?  You don't know what fishing a higher end, modern baitcaster is like.

I promise I'm not trying to pick on you and I would never look down on someone for using whatever gear they like.  I just hate to see someone who obviously loves fishing and fishing gear sell themselves short.  You come online and give reviews of products without having anything to base those opinions on.

I agree 100% with poisonokie.  Take a look at Daiwa's T-Wing design.  It allows the line to flow more naturally as it comes off the reel.  You can get a new Tatula for under $100 on ebay.   I promise you it's a better made, better designed, higher quality reel than those Super Casters.

I will say that those super casters are a rarity and may actually be worth something one day as a curiosity. Like dust jackets in back to the future 2.

I just haven't gotten into the Huddgill hype I guess. As much as bass eat gills around here I can't get much love on gill swimmers. I've got a Gantarel and Bullshooter Jr that I like the size of a little more than I think I would with the Huddgill.

I really like the looks of the 6th Sense Flow Glider 140 (not new, just caught my eye recently). The Savage Gear Shine Glides really have my attention. The realism, size, and price are all great. As much as I didn't like the Real Gill, I'm hoping the Lucky Craft Real Ayu will be as good as it looks. I want to fish it for smallmouth where the zebra mussels are bad so if I lose it I won't be as hurt as if it happens to a Deps. The Duo Prometheus Glide (and the crappie glide bait that I've seen pictures/heard rumors of), both look terrific. I haven't tried any of their other baits, but I'd like to try one of the Livingston swimbaits that are coming out. I'm sure I'll be trying both of the smaller sizes of the Spro Rats. Just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. It could be an expensive winter.

i might try the shine glides , i really like Savage Gear baits . i throw the line thru , shallow runner and the 3d real trout a lot , not much a fan of glide baits but if i'm going to try to get more into them , i might as well try the shine glide .

EDIT - i was actually talking about the Savage Gear 8'' glide swimmer , that shine glide reminds me of the tru-tungsten swimbait ....

Glides are about the only thing I've been able to get bit on this year for some reason. Last year it was all about the Slammer, this year they won't touch it.

Can you provide me a list of some of those? I like to see what new swimbaits come out but am never informed of when they come out

That's a sweet looking bait. I'm really looking at picking up some more shad shaped glides, especially as fall is quickly approaching.  A Bull Shad was slamming smallmouth today, would have liked to have had a bigger bait to toss at them.

you know how 3:16 baits sell out quick , seems all those are already spoken for , probably sold out within minutes ...
