UKCATSBASSER Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I usually use it for shaky heads. Tied to an 8 pound fluro leader. Currently I have been using 15 pound test power pro super slick. Was thinking of moving down to 12 pound test. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 Mine is spooled with 20# Power pro super slick. I've also recently started using straight braid for shaky heads, wacky rigs etc. You can really get a good hook set and it hasn't affected the amount of bites I get at all. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 Bass are usually line shy fish, however the line can affect a lures action and fall rate. That being said, your main line being very small diameter braid, the leader becomes a factor. I would experiment with different leaders before changing the main line. Tom Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 i would suggest 10 lb. braid , very thin but still strong ... 3 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 I use 30# or 40# superline mostly in high visibility yellow on my 2500 Shimanos. Those are 8# mono equivalent diameter. I use 20# yellow superline on my 1000 size reels---6# mono equivalent diameter. Anything less has very little shock strength. When I use a leader, it is 20# fluorocarbon. Shakey head presentations and wacky rigging in all water colors. Quote
powerduster Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I can fit all 300yds of 10lb suffix 832 on my shimano fj 4000, which gives me good breaking strength and great line capacity. I think going down to 10lbs on a 2500 reel would be more than adequate. It is also more advantageous in my opinion. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I use 15lb PP or 832 on almost all of my 2500 size reels. I think I have one spooled with 12lb, and one with 20. Anything in the 15lb ballpark is fine, just up to your preference. Quote
d-camarena Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I use 15lb or 10lb, id use 15 theres not much of a difference in diameter Quote
Dan_the_fisher Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 15lb super slick for me on my 2500 symetre Quote
IDUTBass Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I use a mono backing with 10 lb braid and the leader switches between mono and fluorocarbon Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 11, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 11, 2015 20# original Power Pro on a 2500 Symtere FJ IF I use a leader, which I hate, it's 15 floro. Mike Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 12, 2015 i would suggest 10 lb. braid , very thin but still strong ... X2, I use 10lb Super Slick but there's a couple new braids out there I'm looking forward to trying soon. Quote
