JeziHogg Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 This stuff looks pretty sweet, anyone use it yet and have any feedback? And I quote from TW Gliss Supersmooth Monotex Line is a revolutionary new line in a class of its own. It delivers the many of the same properties as mono in that it features a single strand construction, is super pliable, casts very well, and it floats, yet it still has many of the advantages of braid as well, including zero stretch, extremely thin diameters, and incredible strength. It is constructed through a breakthrough process that involves the extrusion of High Modulus Poly Ethelyne fibers developed during a 5-year process. Gliss Supersmooth Monotex was also performance-tested by Elite Series and FLW Tour anglers, including Fred Roumbanis. “I caught fish with Gliss that I could not have caught with other line,” says Roumbanis. "The softness of the line produces superior castability resulting in increased distance I can’t get with braid. The zero stretch of Gliss produces strike sensitivity not achievable in mono or fluorocarbon and with the incredible strength to diameter ratio Gliss is quiet and manageable at strength levels close to braid ... I am convinced this is a competitive advantage for me until the other pros switch to Gliss." -Round profile-Tremendous strength to diameter-High abrasion resistance-Extreme flexibility-Exceptionally slick surface profile-Low water absorption-Treated to ensure almost unlimited UV resistance-Made in Japan Quote

After using it for a while now seems there may be a "It doesn't last" concern. A-Jay 2 Quote
NJSalt Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I've been using the 18lb Gliss on my dropshot setup and like it a lot. No durability issues with a long topshot of 8lb Gamma Edge. line does seem to fade a bit but other than that I am very pleased Quote

Preytorien Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I've been using it a while, and although it's working very well, there comes a point where I am having to cut off line to keep the fraying at a minimum. Otherwise it's a good line. I'm impressed Quote

Megastink Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I've had the same 24lb gliss on my drop shot rod for the last 2 months with zero issues. I use about a 10ft fluoro leader. Quote

I could see that being an awesome setup. None of my tests (in the other thread) included using a leader. A leader, especially flouro, would eliminate my one and only concern with the line - fraying Quote

Super User OkobojiEagle Posted September 13, 2015 Super User Posted September 13, 2015 Bought a spool each of 12lb & 19lb a few weeks ago. I like the 19lb but the 12lb is too wispy for my fishing. If anyone wants to try some 12lb Gliss PM me your address and I'll send you about 147 yards of very slightly used green 12lb Gliss. oe Quote

Steveo-1969 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I just bought a spool of 24# for my spinning rod during the TW Labor Day sale, it delivers this Thursday. I always use an 8# fluoro leader to hopefully the fraying issues some guys have seen won't affect me. I should have an idea of how well it's working and lasting in about a month. I'm very excite!! Steveo-1969 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I fished the 24# Gliss on a spinning rod for about 8 hours over this past weekend. My initial impression is "I really like this line!". First thing I noticed was how thin it is. I've been using 10# Sufix 832 for the past couple years and ordered the 24# Gliss because the listed diameters were similar. The Gliss seems even thinner. Second thing I noticed was how easily it casts. The package says something about longer casts and they aren't kidding. I used the recommended uni-to-uni to join my fluoro leader and had zero problems with it. I had a catfish pulling drag like crazy on Sunday morning and all was good. I didn't notice any fraying yet, but I only used it for 8 hours and always tie on a leader. Time will tell. I tried a spool of Nanofil last year and my biggest complaint was it started to fray really bad just from running through the guides on my rod. My only complaint (not really a complaint) is that I could only get this line in green from TW. It's SO thin that it's hard to see, in fact line watching was completely out of the question. I may as well have had my eyes closed. I may get it in yellow or (gasp!) pink next time to "see" if it's more visible. So far so good!!!!!! Quote
