UKCATSBASSER Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm looking at putting a 7 speed metanium on a jog and worm Rod. Not for flipping. Will be casting jigs and Texas rigs. Should I look at the chronarch? Seems to have more line capacity. Quote
UKCATSBASSER Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 Should mention I use shooter fc. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 I have 14lb Sniper on my 2013 Metanium and have enough capacity (it's probably about 95-100 yards depending on line diameter). Due to trim-backs, I'm probably about 15-20 yards short of full and can still bomb out a long cast and still have enough line left on the spool to handle any drag that would be pulled by any fish in my lakes short of a grass carp. Super User 00 mod Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 Should be fine. Jeff Quote
Logan S Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 You only need about 50 yards at the most on reels for anything that is 'normal' in the bass fishing world. Filling a reel all the way up without backing is wasting line/money IMO. Bottom line, you'll be fine with 14 lb on that reel . Quote
stkbassn Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Sunline Shooter and Seaguar Senshi seem to be thinner diameter for the # test than other brands. Check those out too if you haven't. I ordered both recently but haven't had time to check either out. Quote
cottny27 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I agree with Stratos on that. Its why they make that cheap red Cajun line...for backing Quote
Stapsy Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 The Metanium spool is fine for 14lb test. The stock spool is rated at 130 yards of .285mm diameter line, which is basically 12lb shooter or sniper. I have to imagine that will translate to at least 110 yards of 14lb test. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 .285x130=37.05÷.310=119.5 yards of #14 Sniper. Way more than you need, even having lost a few yards for retying. Quote
