Big C Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I smoked two 8lb. Boston Butts. That's what I did Labor Day. It took 16 hours, but so worth it. Now I have 15 lbs. of perfectly smoked pulled pork in the fridge. What did you guys do for Labor Day? Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 Took the kids and wife to breakfast, followed up by a trip to home depot to get some material for "honey do's". Made the family's favorite dinner and watched some movies. Kept it pretty simple this year. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 What I usually do, spent time with my wife. Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 Slept in; these days anything past 6:00 is sleeping in in my book . Spent most of the day with my best friend; partook in goodies made by my Mom, sister, and her boyfriend (homeade salsas and cookies), grilled burgers for supper along with -not grilled- corn and watermelon. Capped it off with All Quiet On the Western Front, which is right where I am in history. Pretty sad movie but good nonetheless. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 Pork butt in the crockpot because someone in the house doesn't like smokey flavor , grilled shrimp and grilled jalapeño's stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon, and deep fried garlic hot wings. Also, drank my last alcoholic beverage for the year in preparation for an upcoming surgery. 1 Quote

Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Went fishin, saw an idiot up river in a pontoon boat going full throttle into a huge rock, still laughing about it Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 dang you got 15lbs out of 16lbs of meat, that is crazy. My yield after cleaning and pulling is usually around 60-70%.I did some lesson planning and hung out at the house pretty much all day. I did fish sunday though and did ok on a lake i haven't fished in a long long time so that was cool. Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 I smoked 2 that weighed 10 pounds each for a dinner we had Sunday. I lit the smoker at 11pm Saturday and was smoking a little before midnight. Thanks to my BBQ Guru I was able to get some sleep and not worry about it. I don't know what smoker you have but if you use it a lot look into getting a Guru for it. Quote

I have a fire-box-on-the-side barrel-style rust bucket of a smoker. It's actually my old man's old smoker. Quote
Jake the Cake Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Deer steaks, turkey burgers, chicken, pork chops, and grilled vegetables. Unfortunately, no fishing. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 Time for a confession. When I saw the title of this thread I wasn't sure if it was about getting a few free puffs from cigarettes that hadn't been smoked down to the filter, or a magazine featuring the derrieres of attractive females. Wrong on both counts. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 After seeing this thread again I decided to pull one of my pork butts out of the freezer and will be smoking it this weekend... 1 Quote
