NotnatsSamoht Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Iv been trying all the soft plastics I have lately and so I tried a sample pack of tubes I have, rigged weightless on and owner twistlock.got bit three times and each time the hook never penetrated and the tube was pulled off the twistlock. Not sure where the problem is, tubes to thick? Wrong hooks? So what tubes are good, and what's the best way to rig weedless and weightless? Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 I dont know if this will work , I also used a tube with the twist lock hooks and there just isnt enough plastic to hold onto. Next time I'm going to put a short piece of plastic worm in the nose of the tube . It should hold on good . Quote
EvanT123 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Glen has a great video on here about rigging options. I rig them 2 ways 1.with a internal tube jig head or ball jig head. 2. T-rigged with a bell sinker in the head or weightless. I know others will differ but to me a tube is a tube. I look for the least expensive at any given time. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 I never rig tubes weightless; to rig them weedless: Classic weedless rig with a EWG hook ( may be weighted ) Phantom hook Stupid rig Stupid rig: 1 Quote

lecisnith Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I've got some tubes where the noses are solid. Strike King and Yamamoto, I think. I've rigged those with twistlock hooks and they hold up just fine. Quote

It is actually one of those things where you go: how come I didn´t think about that before ? , really you don´t need "special" design jigheads ( other than having oversized hooks ) to make your tube weedless when you don´t have other than regular jigheads or have specially designed hook & weight systems like the Phantom hook; I do have them but you don´t always get the weight/hook size combination you want. Super User Bankbeater Posted September 8, 2015 Super User Posted September 8, 2015 I just t-rig them and keep the point of the hook inside the tube. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Most often, since I 'discovered' the stupid rigging it's the one I use most often. Many will rig a tube Texas style, but to me, that just kills the action, so it's internal jig, or weight of some sort. If you're looking for a great hook that's designed for tubes, check out the HP hook Quote
NotnatsSamoht Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I may try the stupid rig since I have the hooks already, I also found eagle claw lazer tube hooks that may work great for weightless, going to add them to my next order and try it. Quote

Super User the reel ess Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 You can use tubes that are so big they discourage bites. There was a movement toward huge ones after Ish Monroe won a big tourney one them. But that was in FL and he was catching hawgs. I think medium to small tubes should get about as many bites as a small T-rigged worm or craw. Quote

Only thing I throw tubes for around here are smallies and those mean little suckers can straight up destroy a tube! Been using them for years.. Skeet Reece series, also had a molded in rattle pocket. Super User Felix77 Posted September 10, 2015 Super User Posted September 10, 2015 I use a Trokar tube hook, a tungsten weight and a peg. Quote
