SmallTownTexasAngler Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Suggestions on power, action, length, etc. for pop-r, heddon torpedo, chug bugs, and other topwater hard baits? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 8, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 8, 2015 I use a 6' 8" M/F. It's a good all around topwater rod for most everything except frogs and buzzbaits. Quote

Drewski73 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I recently purchased an abu garcia ike model 6'4" moderate for yellow magics, small sammys, and small rip baits. I absolutely adore it. Perfect tool for the application. Right in your price range as well. Quote
Jmann17 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I also have a 6'8" mojo bass topwater rod. I paid $110 for mine. Its a medium power, with an extra fast tip. Great for poppers, spooks, buzzbaits, etc. Unfortunately I don't use mine to often on my home lake. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 9, 2015 Super User Posted September 9, 2015 You can also check out the Dobyns Fury line of rods. They're right in your price range. Their medium heavy is a 3 power. It would be more like a medium power rod when compared to the others. I bought a 703 for a friend a few months ago. It's definitely softer than any of my other mh rods. Another to consider. Quote
