I need help as I am a newbie at this. My dad and I purchased a Lowrance elite 4 chirp unit. We ran the electrical connections to the battery black wire to negative post, red wire connected to the fuse then to the positive battery terminal. The transducer was not hooked up but we wanted to see if the unit was receiving power. I pushed the power button held it 3 secs as instructed and nothing happened. I disconnected the wiring harness from the unit and checked for voltage. There is voltage to the wiring harness. Is there anything I could have missed? We really need help.

I never liked the '3-second' thing. Try different time intervals less than 3 seconds. Also, eleminate the fuse to see if it comes on without it. If it makes a difference, get another inline fuse holder and use it. How much voltage was at the Lowrance connector?

I have the same unit and if you hold mine down it wont turn on either, just push the button and let go and it should fire up.
