Lunker Addict Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I was bass fishing at my favorite fishing hole this afternoon when, what felt like a Mack truck hit my spinnerbait. After a bit of a fight I pulled in a 33 inch rainbow that had to have been about 8lbs. I tried to get a pic but it was just me and he had a lot of fight left I him. On top of that I don't know how I could have held it with 1 hand to get a pic without risking injuring the fish. Any suggestions would be great. I also caught 12 largemouth with 2 over 5lbs. It was a great day. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 5, 2015 Super User Posted September 5, 2015 We never know what's going to bite sometimes. Congrats on a fine trip Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 5, 2015 Global Moderator Posted September 5, 2015 That is a monster rainbow! I've caught them on several bass lures but never a spinnerbait, can't say I'm real surprised by it though. Sounds like a great day on the water! Quote
716RAVEN Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Love spinnerbait fishing.. You can catch anything.. Hence the picture of 40 plus inch 18lb musky.. Quote
Dillo Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 check out this article on solo hero shots- http://www.ginkandgasoline.com/fly-fishing-photography/getting-the-hero-shot-when-youre-fishing-solo/ My personal favorite is the underwater camera. Now on the fish- congrats on an awesome catch. Trout amaze me- you can catch a 6 incher in the same trip as a 24+ incher and they're both tons of fun. Quote
MassBass Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Im not especially surprised, I was fishing with my dad one time, going down the bank in a boat casting, he takes a cast off the deep side and caught a 5lb salmon on the spinnerbait. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 15, 2015 Super User Posted October 15, 2015 Do you keep a net with you? I use a folding net on my kayak to land pickerel and other non-bass fish. I find they calm down some when in the net... You should be able to get a picture then. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted October 15, 2015 Super User Posted October 15, 2015 Nice work, sure is an oddity that a seasoned trout would smash a spinnerbait. BPS has a fish gripper I always carry with me to handle fish like musky or trout http://m.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Grip-Master/product/93414/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT Quote
