Don't want to mess with your choice. Cabelas Arachnid is a Tatula R with better specs. On sale at $143 now.

Get a type r off the auction site. It'll run you about $140

The arachnid is a type r with 4 more bearings. 1 in each knob and 2 in the level wind. You can add those yourself for about $6.

Whichever one you can get for cheaper.

I actually just bought the Tatula Tactical 8.1 off of TW for $142 something after tax. Only because its a Tatula and it came with a bunch of free stuff. I almost got one of the DX rods for frogs and flippin but i cant recieve it in my P.O. box so i had to miss out on that deal.

tatula tacital doesn't have magforce Z right? If so, definetly get the Type R with the Zaion drag star

You are a bit late as he already bought the Tactical model.

OP, no idea if you bought the right model.  I only have the standard and Type R models.  Both very good reels so I assume the Tactical is also a fine reel.

why wouldn't it have magforce z? The only one I know of that doesn't is the jdm HLC and that just because the spool doesn't have the moving rotor because it's made for heavy baits. If you put a normal spool in there, boom magforce z.

I still say they cheaped out somewhere on that arachnid. More bearings, but lower quality, or something to that effect. It says engineered by Daiwa. That doesn't make it a Daiwa. They might've used cheap, low brass gears, who knows.

You know what they say about opinions...

The bearings Daiwa uses are already cheap. They pay less than 20 cents for them. It's not a hard concept to grasp. I don't know why you keep insisting they cut a corner.

well, for one thing, you said yourself that they put a cheap, riveted handle on that other reel. It stands to reason that there's something like that with this one.

I'm sure Cabelas pays Daiwa a pretty penny. From my experience, Cabelas Daiwa branded reels are every bit as good as the original Daiwa model. Daiwa isnisn't goito go through a bunch of trouble to water them down. I'm talking about low end to mid tier reels. The only difference will be cosmetic, a bearing here or there, and I doubt the bearings Daiwa is using differ any.

The handle used on the Prodigy was the same handle from the U.S. Zillion. So they didn't go and make a handle just for that reel. Just like the Lexa and the Exceler Exe. Both have the same handle and knobs. Same retainer cap and nut, but the Lexa handle has removable knobs.

rippin-lips is right on the Daiwa reels.. It's just simple business, no need for complication here, simplicity is bliss & profitable.

I have one of the older gray Prodigy models.  It is a very fine reel.  Especially considering what I paid for it.  Although I own quite a few Diawas, I don't get into them myself so I don't know what the common denominators are between the various models.  I just enjoy fishing with them.  :teeth:

I have an Arachnid and a Type R and IMO the Arachnid is smoother than the Type R. I got it cheap from Ebay so I figured I couldn't pass it up.
