YaketyYak Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 So there is this great looking pond about a mile down the road from my house called Cooks Mill Pond that I'd love to figure out how to get access to fish. There is a posted sign up but with no contact information. A while back I actually went to the county administration building to see if I could find out who owns it so I could call and ask permission (or even pay them) to fish it from time to time with my kayak. They couldn't help me. Anyone have any tips on how to go about getting legitimate access to a pond like this? Any resources to use to find out more information about ponds like this? I've lived here 3 years and am dying to figure out a way to fish this pond, I've never seen anyone out there fishing it. Thanks! Joey Quote

Most assessors county/state have website where you can search by address if not go back to county building and find out where the tax maps are. Once you get the parcel number account number then you can look up the owner. You will be able to at least contact the owner via mail. If you have anyone that is in the survey/civil engineering industry they should know what I speak of and how to obtain the info. Here is an example website that I used in MD. http://sdat.resiusa.org/RealProperty/Pages/default.aspx Quote
