Qgudaitis7121 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I was looking for a new rod and the JM Carbolite and the veritas were the two that I am interested in. So if anyone has an opinion on either rod or another rod in the same price range I would appreciate your opinions. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted September 3, 2015 Super User Posted September 3, 2015 A friend of mine that I regularly fish with has both rods in question. He prefers the Carbonlite for feel techniques. He has had issues with the build quality of the Veritas and now he doesn't really like the color of the rod much anymore. I have fished the Veritas only and thought it was a solid rod but fished a 1/2 to a full power heavier than other rods with similar ratings. For $100 I am not a huge fan of either to be honest. Quote
Qgudaitis7121 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 What is your recommendation I don't want to pay much more than 150 ish Quote
poisonokie Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 that Veritas can be had on amazon for <$80. It's prime. If you were considering $100, do yourself a favor and save a little cash and go for a tatula, also on amazon, for around $120-130 depending on the model. They are head and shoulders above either of the rods you're considering. Quote
MrBigFishSC Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Veritas are solid but stiff. I have one and regretted not spending $40 extra for something better. Quote
Qgudaitis7121 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 I fish mainly jigs and or soft plastics on a Texas rig Quote
Qgudaitis7121 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 The most expensive rod I had previously looked at is a Duckett micro magic any opinions? Quote
GoRavens Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Out of the carbonlite, Veritas, and Duckett ghost. I like my ghost. It's a little more sensitive then my carbonlite. All medium heavy. The Veritas is stiff to me. Quote
clh121787 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I have both. Veritas and carbon light. And favor the carbon light especially for bottom contact baits. Quote
clh121787 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 In the 100 dollar range I've had carbon lights, Veritas , tfo, and Daiwa lexa. The carbon light is my favorite. Of the 100 dollar class I've fished Quote
NathanW Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I have not fished the new Veritas and have not fished the Carbon lite for a number of years. The first gen Veritas is a very capable rod and has good power and usually a pretty honest taper. Not the most sensitive or light rod but it beats out many rods twice its price, just make sure you are ready for the power they offer. 1 Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I have a Duckett Ghost in a 7' MH and I have no complaints ( I use it for mostly Texas Rigs). I would also take a look at the Falcon Bucoo. I use this rod for Texas rigs as well and I find it to be a little more sensitive. For $10 more I would look at the Falcon Bucoo Quote
JustinU1X Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I got a MH veritas then purchased a duckett ghost and it was a lot more sensitive. I can feel when the smallest nibbles and it has in creased my hook ups on t rigs. Like others said the veritas is a little stiff. Quote
