Super User *Hootie Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 Yesterday, I was fishing my favorite lake. I'm normally using heavy rods, medium heavy occasionally. Yesterday, I decided to take my medium spinning combo with me. I caught 9 bass. Seven on the the spinning combo. WOW! Three pound bass on a medium rod! That's exuberating. Needless to say, that combo is going back with me tomorrow. Hootie 4 Quote
Hogsticker Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Good times for sure. I love catching maniac smallmouth on light gear. Apply the same general idea when fishing for Coho / Silvers for any of you saltwater guys and you'll be grinning from ear to ear when you hook up. The majority of my smallmouth arsenal consists of medium and medium light gear. I wouldn't have it any other way! 2 Quote
thehooligan Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Nothing more fun then catching big bass on light gear. I havent fished anything heavier then my medium light adrena this season and dont plan on changing that... 2 Quote
Josh Smith Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Dad used to tell me that his ultralight was to add to the fun and challenge of bass fishing. I don't know about that. My ultralight is for finesse presentations to finicky fish. I can throw flies with that thing if I want to! Josh 1 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 For sure. I have 10 spinning outfits I use for various finesse apps both out of the enjoyment of catching fish on light gear and the need to match the right tool with the job. 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 I take my ml casting setup on every trip. It's a lot of fun to fish. I don't use spinning combos. 1 Quote

kschultz76 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 That's a nice bag for sure Hootie, well done. Nice to see someone on here does more then just talk about their gear, and that includes me. No time to get out and fish right now! 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 Nice. On spinning gear too. It's fun. One of my favorite spinning rods is a med 5'6" throwing lighter baits is fun. I need to use baitcasters more. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 Nothing brightens up the fishing trip like catching a 2 or 3 pound bass while fishing for panfish with the UL rig. 1 Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 It's rare that I don't have at least one spinning rig laying on the deck. Usually it's my MH senko rig or M/XF that I throw tubes with. Some days there are more spinning rigs on deck than casting! I love the days where I'm catching most of my fish on Sliders/4" worms with M/XF spinning rig! Too much fun! 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 2, 2015 Super User Posted September 2, 2015 My sons took me fishing on Father's Day. My youngest son brings night crawlers incase it's slow. The dam was open with the threat of flooding at another place. He caught every panfish in the area. My oldest son lost a few bass. Dad had fun watching the boys again. 1 Quote
