Best Crawfish Lure Fior Ohio

I'm looking for a outstanding crawfish lure for this fall in Ohio reservoirs. I am thinking of the River2Sea Dahlberg Clackin' Crayfish 90 , or the Huddleston Unrigged Huddle Bug rigged from the tail end. Would you recommend either of these? If not what would you recommend?

I haven't used those but the river2sea standin yabbie worked good for me, stands up great and has good movement. Just wish it was weedless, lose a lot of them.

Found a new favorite crawfish lure this summer, Powerboat crazy legs chigger craw. The bass absolutely kill these and the powerboat scent actually works. I have never had fish hold onto a lure for so long, but d**n they love these things. I can't seem to keep my tackle box stocked with these. Try them T-rigged and they will not disappoint.

Jig or a shaky head, the others aren't as good as far as producing...Another good one would be a swing head with any beaver style bait...Stick with simplicity here..

They actually make a weedless version now. I had some ones that were not weedless and they caught me tons of fish. I ended up having to make them weedless myself since they are fairly heavy and always end up fouled. I have caught a ton of fish in Ohio rivers with them.

It's funny you say big Josy swimbaits. I had never heard of them before till sorta recents. Everyone seems to be all about them for eyes though. It's sorta weird since people don't even know what swimbaits are around here usually. I have never actually fished them but did look them up. They are probably alright but didn't strike me as impressive.

Don't know about the Ohio reservoirs, but I caught some good largies and a few smallies on the Little Miami river in southern Ohio, using a swing head and Strike King Rage Menace.   Smaller profile was the key.

Actually as far as those huddle bugs go I have never used them but I hear that kill it. I don't know why I haven't actually ever got some yet. They are really cheap as far as hudd stuff goes. You can just buy a couple pre rigged ones and then you have the proper hooks for them. I have talked to a few peole about them and never heard a bad word. No one ever talks about them though for some reason. Get a little spinning rod with some light braid or flouro and its on.

Ya well a real crayfish doesn't have that much action either. Maybe a scoot or 2 backwards and they are gone under a rock or something.

That's kinda why I like them.  I think most crawfish imitators over do it, with too many legs, and curly tails, and appendages.  Look at the ned rig, it's simplicity is what makes it work.

Hopefully you already know this by now. But that "clackin crayfish" is practically garbage. At 12 dollars and I can't get the thing to land up right hardly ever. I was told to add suspend strips to the bottom and this will help make it land up right . So 12 dollars plus a few dollars for the suspend strips. I can get a FEW bags of PROVEN plastics . I wouldn't even bother. And totally regret spending 12 dollars on something that instantly has to be modified out of the package.i t Caught the fisherman. Not the fish.

Try a Drop Shot with a SK Rage Craw

Either nose hook it or go with a 2/0 or 3/0 standard wire EWG hook.

I concentrate more on location and presentation than bait realism... 3" or 4" curly tail grub in a color similar to the prevailing forage, married to a 1/4oz mushroom jig head.  Scoot it along the bottom with occasional rests or swim it slowly a couple feet above bottom.

I just grabbed a package of Keitech crazy flappers in 3.8" They are a pretty good crayfish imitation. Stopped and tried them out quick and had a bunch of perch, bluegills, and an army of dinks follow it in every cast. I had what looked like a 2 pounder roll on it but I didn't set the hook. It was too hot and muggy for me to take the time and stick around.

If the fish want more movement or in murky water I use the rage crae, baby rage craw, zoom ultravibe speed craw, or r.i. sweet beavers. If the water is just a little stained I use zoom Lil critter craw, strike king bitsy craw trailers, and net bait paca craws. In clear water I use the yum crawbug, and big bite baits hd craw. Haven't tried the huddle bug but it looks great. If I want more of a reaction strike I pitch a jig in heavier weights than normal or I use cranks like bandits, bombers, normans, and wiggle warts in craw colors. The soft plastics I pretty much use 2 colors. Black and blue in muddy water and green pumpkin with orange claws (I dip in dye if the company doesn't offer this color). All the craws around here (tn, ga, al) have some orange highlights so I try to match that. On the cranks I use orange and brown craw patterns in clear water and reds in muddy water

The metal lip Arbogast Mudbug in crawdad colors is hard to beat if soft plastics are not what you are looking for. R2Sea clackng craw was a lot of hype wh little results. 

Ohio bass and crawdads don't know where they live!

I 've caught fish on about all of them. I like the paca craw, chiggercraw, and rage craw. I like to kick some rocks over and see the color and size of the crayfish and match the hatch if you will.
