Andrew Blair Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hey all! Im new to this forum, but not new to the region. I lived in eastern MD for 24 years before joining the Army, and fortunately enough for my wife and kids we got stationed back in Frederick. Ive been reading reports on the Monocacy river, and I will be trying it out, but are there and ponds and or lakes for good bass and pike? Google maps is usually my go to, but before I waste gas and free time I figured I would ask. I searched on here a bit, and didnt really see too much. Thanks for any help you can offer! James Quote
Super User Munkin Posted August 31, 2015 Super User Posted August 31, 2015 Check out the Maryland Who's Who topic on the Northeast Bass Fishing forum for a lot of information about the area. Besides that I would try Baker Park which is right outside the Veterans gate of FT. Detrick (Which I assume you are stationed at unless you are AGR?). Nallins pond on base is not a good place to fish from what I have heard. Allen Quote
Logan S Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I can't speak to many of the smaller local ponds or shore spots...But Little Seneca Lake/Black Hills Park a little south of you is a great bass fishing lake. Lots of shore access spots along the C&O Canal and the Upper Potomac. I've always enjoyed wading/walking the upper Potomac. I imagine some others will have some better intel for you though. Quote
Andrew Blair Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Thanks for the replies. Yes Fort Detrick is where I am at. Nallin pond actually has provided some good bass for me. Got a 3lber yesterday actually on a zoom trick worm. I just want to venture out further than post. I will check out the whos who and read a bit. I am extremely familiar with the Potomac, mainly the DC side though. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted September 1, 2015 Super User Posted September 1, 2015 Cunningham Falls park has a lake which holds some nice bass. Easily fished from shore Quote
