We need a new topic for threads like this one.  "Something Else"

We have an "Everything Else" topic, but this thread is something else, as are a few others

Well, that's fine, but if someone wants advice on equipment I don't think "just any old thing will do".

Give us a pricing point and our guys will suggest their favorite gear in your range. The best gear will

not make a bad fisherman good, but it can make a good fisherman better. Whether higher priced

equipment improves your "catching" is debatable, but it certainly makes the "fishing" more fun!

I fished with a bamboo rod with no reel then with a $5 Zebco reel with no bearings was better at 11yo. We would wear those Zebco reels out every year fishing when we were kids. We were poor. I raked leaves, cut grass to get my fishing stuff. We didn't make much money.

My very first good spinning reel was a D.A.M. QUICK when I was 22 years old with my first income tax return.

Those memories with the Zebco reels I will never forget. I'm 64yo now.

My PB 10# was caught on a black beauty rod and a Wal-Mart quantum spinning reel. The bass didn't care.

My point is we can't put a price on fun. Buy what you can afford and get out there fishing that's what counts.

I had holes in my shoes but I had that new Zebco reel.

I just gave my 5yo grandson his first Zebco reel and casting rod. The Zebco legend lives on.

We must all learn to be more tolerant and accepting.

What Slone and some of the rest of us understand is that tolerance and acceptance are much overrated!

We can fish with any rod and reel but we need quality line with a good knot.

We have lost the respect and love for our fellow man after all we are all brothers in some way. God bless.

We all have a bad day.

Love it.

I'll spin ye' a yarn -a true one: A buddy I used to muskie fish with on the St. Lawrence River had the biggest muskie ever come onto the floor of his boat one summer. It was 51-1/2" long and was caught by an inebriated kid on a 1/4oz Mr. Twister jig on a cheap Zebco spin-cast outfit.

I once caught a 40" pike on a jig and half nightcrawler. I was perch fishing and apparently the pike decided the nightcrawler looked more tasty than the perch

You forgot to add while in a walleye boat

I left it out because I thought it might upset all these bass fishermen, you know....a bass being caught in something other than a bass boat. In fact, it wasn't in the nice walleye boat I have now. It was in my old Mirrocraft

Is this even a debate?

I think Hank Hill is the only one on the other side of that potential debate. :)

Charcoal or gas?

Is this even a debate?

Nothing like a hardwood fire.

Fresh caught catfish, burgers, dogs, kielbasa, sausage, even pepperoni sticks taste awesome on wood

But if there wasn't all that back and forth discussion...What would I read at work all day? Now that I have boring office job I need something to keep me awake! ;)
