Two new videos from Wilderness Systems featuring their new motor drive and also a new Tarpon that holds the motor drive - Tarpon 130X.  I hope they put that motor drive in more and more kayaks, maybe the price will eventually come down if more and more kayaks have those drives.

  Anyway, I want one!

So summer is basically over and the spring/summer rush is over.  I assume they will be releasing them some time in spring 2016.  I've not seen those motors on the WD site or Austin Kayak site.

I would wait, word is they're coming out with versions with electronics compatability.

I wouldn't get one if it didn't have compatibility for electronics.  That flex pod was pretty high on my list of importance when I bought my ATAK.  I am also not sure if i want to spring for that much cash for a motor but a pedal drive I might be interested...

I bought my 115x one year too soon. Love it but I love the ATAK even more.

I have fished in a lot of kayaks over the years and I have to say the ATAK is the best one i have fished from so far.  the only negative i have found, other than weight, is the seat fastening system, it sucks but if you leave the seat attached it isn't an issue.

I am getting serious kayak *** here.  I have been eye balling the ATAK for a while now.  Contemplating a possible upgrade next year.  The only issue is cost.  The kayak itself isn't too bad, but tack on a trailer, tow package for my car, possible motor or pedal drive, and things start climbing.  So much so that I am actually debating between a fully rigged ATAK and a proper boat.  Has anything heard any speculation over how much the motor will be.  I saw the device it is based on and it runs as much as the ATAK.  As cool as that is I just don't know how feasible it will be.  I am also curious about how it will do in really shallow water or water with heavy weeds.  I would hate to get hung up all the time, especially if I am on a river.

I thought i saw somewhere that it was going to be in the 1500 range for the motor assembly.

I am sure it will do the same as any other pedal or motor driven kayak in shallow water or weeds though.  it isn't like the technology is new.  I do think, knowing what i know about the flex pod, that it would be a pain to lift the motor out unless they built in some type of mechanism to assist in tilting it up.  I wouldn't even bother using it on a river unless i was using it just to motor upstream and then float back.

I will say that even without the motor or pedal the ATAK is a great boat and worth every penny.  Also, you can car top it and depending on the car you have, it wouldn't be that bad really.  I drive a wrangler so i literally had to lift it completely above my head with straight arms to get it on there.  I did it for a while too but when i saw a tailer for a good price i picked it up.
