Rhino68W Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I'm going to the Trinity River in the wonderful downtown Fort Worth, TX this Sunday and I plan on using rubber skirted jigs. On one bank I have tons of large rocks, rip rap i guess is the term. On the other I have a little more cover; sand, overhanging trees, laydowns. I plan on using a 3/8 oz arky head jig with trailer to swim and hop along the bottom. I'll let you know how it turns out! Quote
theseanny Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I live in FW, so I'm interested to see how this turns out. Green pumpkin and watermelon for soft plastics on a t-rig are how I've caught most of my fish out of the Trinity. Looking forward to seeing how jigs work out for you. Quote

With the Arkie jig give the Berkley 4" Chigger Craw trailer in green pumpkin a try.Tom PS, just noticed it's this weekend and you asleep now, fishing in the morning...good luck! 1 Quote

ClackerBuzz Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 #1 reason I didn't catch many jig fish my first seasonal attempt: overworking the lure. just like a senko slow dragging with lots of pauses works wonders. good luck! Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted August 30, 2015 Super User Posted August 30, 2015 give the Berkley 4" Chigger Craw trailer in green pumpkin a try. I was using a 4" Chigger Craw yesterday from my kayak. I cast to just under the ladder on one of only two docks on the reservoir. I started the retrieve but felt "nothing" on the line. I tried to tighten up, but still no resistance. Then it swam sideways. Tightened up and BAM it was on!!! The fish drug my kayak away from the dock, then turned under my yak and pinned me against the pier. I was fighting the fish on the right, but it was under the pier on the left. I was struggling with two other rods, trying to keep their tips safe. I finally got it back to the right and landed it. 5.88 lbs. This is one of 3 bass over 5# I've caught on the Chigger in a month. And I've only fished 4 times. These are two different fish. 5.88 and 6.3 lbs. Both held on to that craw like it was real. 1 Quote
