Bit the bullet and picked up a chronarch 50e, avail honeycomb micro cast spool and bfs air bearings. Now I need advice on a rod. I'm looking to spend less than 300 dollars on a weightless plastic/very light t rig bottom contact rod. Needs to be as sensitive as possible and still be capable of casting 1/8 ounce total weight lures.

Looking at the kistler helium 3. 7 foot medium extra fast and the g Loomis gl2 852c. Can any one give me any insight on these rods? Also open to suggestions. Trying to stay close to 7ft. Thanks in advance

Also interested in line suggestions. I was thinking suffix 832 30lbs braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Won't be fishing any rock or heavy vegetation with this set up but it will see lay downs and brush piles. I do have some yozuri hybrid 6 lbs I was thinking about running but I'm on the fence with it

You can look into some jdm rods. They make a lot of bfs rods (bait finesse). Some brands like majorcraft, megabass, and jackson are all excellent. Or an NRX 842C is also good just a tad bit above your price range if you look out for deals.

I have the Ultimate Senko Rod:  G.Loomis GLX BCR 893 that I would sell for $275 TYD.

That's not really a finesse rod and it definitely won't go down to 1/8oz and that rod would defeat the purpose of buying the Honeycomb Spool.

The rod is matched with a Curado 50E and does VERY well with 1/8 ounce hair jigs.

agree with John G. had the GLX 893. i wouldn't call it a "finesse stick" if going by lure weight although finesse really refers to a style of fishing for me. tried a super tuned pixy with zpi cp301 and also a mb is with honeycomb with various weights when i had this stick. 1/8oz was definitely not something i would recommend on that rod. curious as to what "very well" means.

Custom or the Jackson Trickster series would be my suggestion.

good suggestion right here. a loomis 1 power rod, major craft are also options at that price point. you might be able to find a jackall poison adrena L/ML used or on sale for close to that price. dont forget that the line will be important to cast that weight consistently/effectively.

Both of those rods are overkill for an avail spool. Look into something light action, maybe medium light...

I use a st.Croix ml ltb about 6 10 lenth with a abu ltx reel .   I throw eighth ounce spinner baits with no problem.  I have pulled in many bass no problem.  This spring trout fishing after hours of fishing and a hand ache.  I picked up this rod and had no problem throwing a little jacke spoon which is less then an eighth ounce with eight pound test as far as my spinning rods, or close?  The only bad thing about this rod is that if you have large hands like myself  the handle is way too short and uncomfortable for me..  Except for the grip I am very pleased with the rod.  Just another option.  I am a loomis rod fan as they make their split grip handles long enough to satisfy me.

Dobyns champion extreme dx 702c line 6-12 lure 1/8 to 1/2oz ml just a tad over $300.00 this rod can do it all with light lures jigs, soft plastic, buzzbaits, crankbaits small spinnerbaits, and it is super sensitive and you can purchase one at American legacy fishing,

Maybe I'm guilty of discrimination, but my idea of "finesse" fishing conjures the image of a 'spinning' outfit.

Furthermore, if maximum sensitivity is your goal, you might consider stepping down from a 7-ft long blank.

Never forget, the ultimate in sensitivity is provided by "hand-lining" (blank length gives leverage to the fish).

I love my recon 682. I can toss 1/16 jigs with 2" Keitech easy shiners a respectable distance with my tuned/bfs curado 51e.

The custom rod builder can make up a bait casting rod using a spinning rod blank; example 7' ML or 2 or 2 1/2 power.

The rod action satiable for your application. Spinning rods tend to be a bit slower in action than casting rod blanks, designed to cast 1/8-3/8 oz lures with ease. You can have the handle any length you prefer, the guide trian traditional or spiral wrapped using micro or whatever guides you like and reel seat you like, St. Croix or whatever blank is within your price point...no compromises.

DVT would be a good place to start.

Thanks for all the great responses guys. I have been looking into the megabass x4 hedgehog or x7 criffhanger , the major craft vokley 68ml and a custom rod. As of right now I am leaning toward a custom rod

Do you have experience with these? Would the light be best for weightless plastics, shakey head, etc?

couldn't take it. Just got the 68L. Found one on eBay for 150 w/free shipping. Hope it works with a T3 sv and kattobi air bearings and that my wife doesn't kill me before I get a chance to find out.

For sure, man, no doubt. I probably won't be able to shut up about it, lol. I got the VKC-68L/BFS. Once I toss a few baits and land a few fish I'll write a detailed review. I know there's a lot of interest in these. I wish I'd have heard something sooner. I mean, they have bias blanks with the Daiwa style micro pitch finish, a mod-fast action, fuji SiC micro guides, and those ultra comfortable fuji ACS reel seats, so it should be an exceptional rod. I can't believe they go for so little cash. I watched a YouTube video of a guy sticking a nice bass with a revo ltx avail mounted to it and it looked sick. Can't wait to put it to the test!

I ended up buying the major craft vokley. Vkc-69ml/bfs. 150 with free shipping is hard to pass up. It will be here sometime between sept.14-29. We shall see. Might still order something custom too. I have a old Calcutta 50 that my grandfather gave me just sitting on a shelf waiting for a worthy rod.
