Garrett_Hall_ Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Looking to buy a new rod for light punching and flipping Texas rigs/jigs in heavy cover, is the G loomis e6x flip/punch suitable for me? Is it worth $200? But the most important factor is if it is sensitive. I really need to feel every little bump, stick, and bite. I'm also open to any other rods around or under 200 dollars, any suggestions? Any info will help, thanks Quote
Idahobassin Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Dobyns savvy! Work great. Will be trying the new fury though Quote
Jaw1 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Phenix m1 or duckett micro magic are my favorite in that price range. I also have the savy series dobyns but prefer the phenix. I have messed around with the e6x rods and they feel pretty good just not as balanced with the reel I use as the phenix. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 1, 2015 Super User Posted September 1, 2015 Take a look Aaron Martins Enigma Edge EAM76LS-XH 7'6" heavy pitching-punch rod. Aaron is having a B.A.S.S. AOY season using his new rods, won a Elite event at Havasu using his EAM78FS-H flipping rod, 7'8" Xheavy, these rods are bargain at $170. Tom Quote

The Enigma looks interesting. To comment on the OP's question, I do not own the flipping rod but I do have the spinnerbait rod and after only a couple of outings I can tell you it's a winner. It's an awesome rod. I'm sure the flipping rod is no exception but yes, I believe the E6X series is worth every penny based on my experience with the one rod that I have from the series. There's a great Tackle Tour review of these as well and the series gets some serious praise that I think is well deserved. Quote
poisonokie Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Man, for the money you can do better. That rod is just a name. Not saying it's by any means low quality, but it definitely won't wow you. You can get a Tatula 7'2" H/F or 7'6" H/F for $120-130 and they have better guides (Fuji alconite), reel seats and handles, and arguably a better blank. (the e6x has that multiple taper, but the tatula is SVF X45 bias construction. Very light, powerful, and sensitive.) if you place stock in tackle tour reviews, read the one for the 721HFB before making your decision. Quote

Aaron left MegaBass and started his own rod series with Enigma called Aaron's Edge, microwave guide set for longer casts and blank construction to his specs, they are new this year. The E6X rod technology is new and good value at the price point, the workmanship could improve. Tom Quote
