Noobs to Tackle Making

I have an idea and if you would like to not participate thats fine.. but for those who would feel free to chime in...

I believe for many new guys who would love to use their artistic ability to create lures in a hobby they live for, it may seem frustrating for these "noobs" (including myself) to know where to begin and it seems overwhelming and get discouraged. Sometimes the search bar doesnt work like we would hope.

So this is my idea... Starting a thread (this one) and for everyone from little experience, to members that have been doing this since before i was born...

Chime in and give us as much helpful information to get off the ground as you can.. from cranks to plastics.

The equipment we need (airbrush, compressor, cranks, paints, etc, etc)

And the places to find these things for a good price and quality..

Lastly, maybe some things you learned that would help someone else maybe not make a mistake you learned from.

I think this could be fun to hear from everyone and interesting for the newbies all the way to the vets around here.. Hope this works out and thanks for any input in advance

I'm all ears!  Just bought an Iwata Revolution CR.  I need to buy a compressor, make a drying station, and get some paints

i bought an Iwata revolution BR. quality brush and great for beginner airbrushers (myself). i've seen it selling for 72 bucks just about everywhere, but www.chicagoairbrushsupply.com has great customer service.

i bought a Husky AirScout air compressor from Home Depot. it was 100 bucks and can put out 135 psi (though you should only be using 15-30 to paint with), 1.5 gallon storage tank, its perfect for airbrushing, because you get a lot of air before the motor fires up.

i use Wildlife Colors paints, but i've seen a lot of people use Createx (and all of its varieties, AutoAir, Wicked Colors, etc), and House of Kolor. search around for the best prices.

One other thing if people would also mind the process of airbrushing.. like the how to's and the process of painting cranks.. like the "layers" clear coat etc..

Note: I measure my epoxy using Flex-Coat epoxy syringes and in order to make sure that I mix the epoxy thoroughly I mix it for three minutes. Those two little things have made working with Flex-Coat much easier for me.
