Got my first fish on a swimbait the other night.

Bought the savage gear line thru trout beginning of season but only have thrown it a handful of times.

Decided that the other night was the night.

So going from only really fishing senkos to a swimbait let me just say the hit was amazing! Instant BAM then drag zing in out. Talk about getting your heart racing! Especially with my drag it doesn't really go unless it's a bigger fish (4+lbs).

Was very lucky that I got the fish in the boat you can see in the one pic it was barley hooked when I got her on!

Think I caught that swimbait fever tho!

5lb 8oz. Great first swimbait fish! Probably my second biggest fish of all time as well!

You're done man! Get ready to have a formal meeting with the bait monkey where he goes over his corporate agenda with you and your finances. LOL.  Congrats on your first swimbait fish! Nice bass man!!

My finnesse? Well to catch this oNE I just casted. Waited a few seconds to let it sink a bit. And smooth retrieve. Just reeled right in to make it swim.

Sometimes I will pause after a couple cranks. Have had good luck doing that with banjo minnows. Figured it might get the same strike on this but no luck yet.

Any ideas how I can use a steal leader with these?

Tie your own, just run it through the bait, tie to the hook and tie it at whatever length you want the leader. You could use heavy fluorocarbon too if you wanted. Obviously not as bite proof, but looks a lot more natural.

My first swimbait fish was much smaller but I know what you mean about that bite, it's so addictive!

Nice fish. Like Blue says, make your own with seven strand wire, and crimps. Google Butch Brown rig for Hudds, adapt it to your line thru. Perfect set up because it won't affect action.
