Super User flyfisher Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 How are you guys feeling about your respective teams? The Eagles have a good record and are putting up points but there are still lots of questions. One encouraging thing is that the depth on this team is pretty solid as can be seen once he second and third units come in and there really isn't a drop off in production. I am looking forward to the green bay game as this will be the dress rehearsal for the season. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 Preseason is fun when the first game starts and 2 minutes later I'm ready for it to be over. Weeks 1-2 and 4 are useless to draw any conclusions. Watching 50 minutes of backups and hopefuls loses its appeal quick. The week 3 dress rehearsal is hit or miss. The GB/Philly game this week should be a fun one to watch. Losing Jordy sucks but if anybody can develop a WR, it's GB. Interested to see if it's going to be Cobb/Adams/Janis or Cobb/Adams/McGomery. Really excited about Adams taking Jordy's role. He's really, really good. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 I haven't really learned anything but a couple of things were re-confirmed. The preseason is entirely too long and if Romo misses any significant time, the Cowboys are done. Oh, and Randy Gregory is going to be a stud if he can keep his nose clean. 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 Ahhhhhhh....football season. Fall is coming .... days are getting shorter and the nights are cooler along with the days. The fish start biting better...less people on the water. Sorry you were talking about football. 3 Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Waiting to see what is happening with Deflategate, but happy to see my pats picking up Reggie Wayne from the Colts. Let's hope he has some gas left in the tank. 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 Fairly pleased with my Bills. Rooting for Tyrod Taylor to be our QB. Kid's got game, IMO. But I'm ready for the league to either ditch the pre-season altogether, or shorten it to a couple games. Quote
NathanW Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 The two teams that draw a lot of interest for me are the Eagles and 49ers. Both were torn apart and put back together. I would like to think that Chip Kelly knows what he is doing and this year will give us all that answer. 49ers on the other hand didn't tear their team down on purpose and their success will be more a factor of; did the organization make the right move in firing Harbaugh? Harbaugh was the most entertaining guy on the field when he came to Seattle and will be missed. The Seahawks addition of Frank Clark, Tyler Lockett and Jimmy Graham could be the makings of the best Seahawks team ever if their offensive line can improve by regular season. Quote
Bryce_Fishin24 Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 My Broncos look impressive, still a big question mark on the line and how they'll protect manning. But overall defense looks solid and from what I've seen the offense for now looks pretty solid as well, yet again this is only preseason so we shall wait till week 1 of regular season to see how everything pays off. Go Broncos! Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted August 25, 2015 Super User Posted August 25, 2015 Yup, Denver, your next superbowl champs. Agree, preseason always sucks.. Hey flyfisher, maybe the eagles can work a deal for RG3,lol Quote

Poor guy needs a coach/team that actually wants him, and can get him back to year one form -- if he can ever get back there again. Quote

I think he does need a change of scenery but it isn't because of the coach. H and trouble with Shanahan and now trouble with Gruden. he brings it on himself with his me first mentality. This is really more to blame from Snyder though as he treated him as a god before he was drafted and after his first season. And he won't be going anywhere anytime soon unless they cut him or trade him (doubt anyone will want his contract) since the skins picked up the team option at around 14M for next season. He just isn't that good at reading defenses and I am not sure if he can get better. He says the right things sometimesbut I just don't see it on the field Quote

But I can't help but wonder if the circus in DC would be a much different situation under someone like Chip Kelly. He could probably bring RGIII back to some form of his former/future self. Quote

QB is the one position that is pretty stable as far as quality goes. It's not very often that a bad QB has some miraculous season. Quote
fish devil Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Big birds fan here. Chip has done a nice job flipping the team over and adding quality depth. The back end of the defense has been totally rebuilt, which was the weak point last year. I am stoked for the season. The team is very exciting to watch. Quote
ned_riggins Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 All ive learned is preseason is a waste of Jordy's ACL and after looking over my FF roster repeatedly that my team is horrible and I have no chance. 1 Quote
Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 I tell you what, they really need to cut down the preseason. Make it 2 preseason games, and then have an 18 game regular season schedule. WAY to many players are getting injured and some are out for the year all ready. It shouldn't take this long to figure out your starters. Quote

Let's hope he has some gas left in the tank. If you've been watching the court proceedings, the NFL is getting SHELLACKED. Wayne was a great pickup though, the guy has always been a class act and a great receiver. Excited to see some regular season play, and a Brady exoneration is right around the corner. Quote

WAY to many players are getting injured and some are out for the year all ready. It shouldn't take this long to figure out your starters. Any one that makes money off the game wants 18 games. The Fans want 18 games. The only people that don't want 18 games is the players. Since the players control that that. I do not see that changing for a long time. That is if it ever changes. The only way I see them dropping the first two preseason games. Is if a major star like Rodgers, Brady, luck, etc. Get a season long injury, or a career ending injury. As Dan Patrick said yesterday. He said the preseason is to long, but Nelson could have torn his acl at practice, at home walking, or in a regular season game. Quote
Smallmouth01 Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 A bit worried about the Packers season without Jordy. Quote
ned_riggins Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 16 games is fine the best part about football is the feeling that every game means something plus can bears fans really stomach watching Cutler for 2 more games??? A bit worried about the Packers season without Jordy. They will be alright until late in the year when their defense brutally disappoints you as is now a longstanding packers tradition. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted August 26, 2015 Author Super User Posted August 26, 2015 Kurt Warner was saying that shortening the preseason will have more injuries. The will pack in more play for starters when they aren't ready. It was also brought up that the lack of practice time may be hurting the players too as it isn't allowing them to get in better condition before playing. Who knows, I don't want a 18 game season, 16 is just fine and preseason is fine too. Let the younger players get out there and show what they are worth while the veterans get some gametime reps. People get hurt, it is part of the game not sure what you can do about it, especially the non contact injuries which it seems like many are having this season. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted August 27, 2015 Super User Posted August 27, 2015 If Brady goes to Federal court over footballs, he may end up with perjury charges.. Glad to see Wayne stay in the game, he's a great player & sure to catch a deflated football, oops! 1 Quote

Why do Packer fans always have to resort to taking a shot at my Beloved Chicago Bears? Sheesh!!! We'll be lucky to finish 8-8 this season... Quote
