sprint61 Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 Does the $10 app offer any more features then the free one on the Internet and the free trial you get? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 24, 2015 Super User Posted August 24, 2015 The Navionics website's Web App does not have any settings, just zoom and distance measuring. The Mobile App has adjustable water level, adjustable depth highlighting, adjustable shallow water highlighting, adjustable depth shading, waypoint creation, tracking, and zoom. With a WiFi sonar transducer, it can create contour mapping for Sonar Charts. Vexilar Sonarphone, Raymarine WiFish, Lowrance GoFree The free trial is the same as the $9.99 Mobile App. I have the Mobile App on 5 devices. Quote
sprint61 Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 So I got it. Would I set the water level to 0 if my lake is at summer pool go get accurate contour line depths? Can you enter coordintes and it make like a mark at the spot? One last question can you fix it so it will show where your at one the lake with like a cursor representing your location? Like on a gps unit. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 24, 2015 Super User Posted August 24, 2015 You don't need to adjust the water level unless your sonar does't match the map contours plus the transducer depth. I don't use the app for GPS data so I have never done waypoints. I have four sonar/GPS units that do that. You have to turn on the GPS function on your device so it shows where you are on the map. sprint61 Posted August 24, 2015 Author Posted August 24, 2015 Didn't think about seeing if my units depth matched the maps depth thanks for the help Wayne. Quote
Firefish Alumacraft Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 well worth the 10.00 and do the upgrades for 1.99 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 24, 2015 Super User Posted August 24, 2015 Those "waypoints" show up on everyone's app as Community Edits. There are nine of those in this screen shot from my phone: There is another one on this lake that has a note "Pig hang out" and has a fish icon. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted August 27, 2015 Super User Posted August 27, 2015 There are several levels of maps. Some have a free trial period. Check the App Store for iOS and Play Store for Android. The BOATING app is the $10 one. BOATING HD is the $50 level. BOATING US and Canada is $15. Other parts of the world have their versions at several prices. There used to be one called USA. I've got several versions. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted August 27, 2015 Super User Posted August 27, 2015 I bought the USA version for my Android and upgraded the features for fishing. I love it for research on a lake. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted August 31, 2015 Super User Posted August 31, 2015 is there much difference in the BOATING HD $50 and the BOATING US and CANADA $15? Not for my use. They do the same. I have the BoatingHD on my iPad. Boating, BoatingHD, and USA on my Android devices. I use them for map demos and Sonar Charts Live. For actual mapping with sonar, I do it with my Humminbird sonar/GPS units. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted September 7, 2015 Super User Posted September 7, 2015 http://fw.ky.gov/Fish/Documents/CRL_Attractor_Map.pdf How can I get these cordinates to work on navonics? GPS coordinates have nothing to do with mapping of any brand. They are a function of your GPS system. GPS is not mapping and mapping is not GPS. Northing and Westing are not common nautical GPS co-ordinates. Those are UTM format Most systems use one of these: DD.DDDD DD MM SS DD MM.MMM Use this converter to get the format you have your GPS set to: http://www.geolifeline.com/coordconverter.php If you can do EXCEL, you can do it all at one this way: http://www.earthpoint.us/BatchConvert.aspx Quote

My unit doesn't have gps just di that's why I needed it. Quote
