Fishwhittler Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 New batch of cranks These are the biggest and smallest cranks I make. The big one is 3 1/2" long not counting the bill. Thanks for looking. Ben Quote

daviscw Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I really like your backgrounds! Is the blue background an air filter? Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Thanks guys. I really like your backgrounds! Is the blue background an air filter? Yea, thats two air filters stacked on each other. Funny thing, I went out to test some cranks action at a pond down the road (I was just testing the action not fishing as the I didn't make the lures for myself), and as I was testing the blue one above I noticed that it kept veering to my right as it came in, so I pulled it out of the water and adjusted the line tie. I did this several times and finally got it running straight, but as I'm pulling it in I feel a jerk and sure enough I've got a bass. I don't think the guy that gets the lure will mind to much though. ;D As for the rest of these lures, I didn't take the two middle ones, The top one is a complete failure( ) and the bottom one needs some work, but I think can salvage it. Stringjam Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I really like your backgrounds! Is the blue background an air filter? +1....I like how you come up with interesting settings for your shots. I never would have thought of an air filter - - it compliments that bait perfectly. 8-) Quote
BIG M Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Ben, the new baits are looking good. I think on the baits that did not run good, line ties needs to be closer to the lip. Your line ties are extremely high above the lip and that may be a cause of your problems. Quote
wickyman Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I really like the design of the bottom one. I only throw shad, and hitch colored lures, as I think most bright colors don't work. I throw some un-naturals, like sexy shad, but very rare. I think shad, splatter back, and hitch are the best producers for big bass, at least in my own experience. But everyone has a preference. I like the way you made your baits, though I agree with Marty, that your line ties are much too high... If you dropped them to half the height, you would get the action you look for. Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 I never thought about the line tie being to high. I will definitely try that and see what happens. Thanks! Quote
Fishwhittler Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Well I lowered the line tie on the lures that were running wrong and now they work great. Thanks for the tip! Ben Quote
