aweiss90 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I was wondering, for those of you that own both of these reels, which one you like better? The chronarch goes for $200 and the citica goes for $130. Im not extremely worried about the price point im just wondering the preferences of the public. I know the chronarch has a faster gear ratio of 7:0:1 compaireed to the citicas 6:5:1 but the line capacity is the same for both of them. Whichever reel i pick is going on a 7' MH *** rod and will be a all application workhorse reel for me as it will only be my second setup. The only other combo i have is a older shimano curado CU-201 and a 6' M Bud Erdhart Fishin Stick. Thanks in advance guys! Quote
zachb34 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The chronarch is obviously the better reel, and I don't know too many people who will argue that it isnt. The price difference puts them in different classes. The citica will do just fine for you and be a good quality performer for years to come. I know my citica reels have all held up perfectly. I have the curado 200E7, which is the same reel as the Chronarch with different paint and some few different parts which don't effect performance. I had a G series citica and still own a G series curado. They are great reels but the frame shape I did not prefer over the E series. My advice is to go for the Chronarch if price is not an option, it's just a better reel. The citica is a good bang for your buck reel. Quote
aweiss90 Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Thanks for the response! I know which one im going with now ! Quote
Turkey sandwich Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The Chronarch is easy to handle, casts well, and is easy to upgrade with bearings if you ever feel like it. Also, it's nearly impossible to backlash unless you try. I've taught three first time/novice baitcasters with them this summer and they all loved them and had no problems. Spooled with braid, they're extremely smooth. Quote
bootytrain Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Don't listen to the haters of the G series, most of them haven't fished the G series and just parrot what they heard from other people who haven't fished them. I have the Citica G and its a sleeper. Its got a pretty light spool at 14 grams so its a casting machine. Performance wise you wont see a difference between the two. Ergonomics might be a deciding factor so Id go handle them both if you can. Or... shop around and pick up a Citica I on the bay. Quote
Zimobass Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Your existing setup is a leftie, so would suggest you go with the Citica, as that is also a left cranker. The Chronarch you mention is a right handed reel. Quote

Tim Kelly Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 The reels listed above are also different retrieve ratios as well as left and right handed. Choose the right retrieve ratio for the intended applications. Quote
