Dobyns 765 Glass Vs Graphite

Looking at getting one of these rods. Dont need any help with brands just want to know if anyone has had experiance with these doybns cranking rods and what they thought about the two and what the ups and downs are for each rod. Thanks for any help!

I like the glass, personally. The glass feels a little heavier but were talking minimal- these rods are much lighter and more sensitive than any other glass rods I have used.

What gives the Dobyns Champion glass the edge is the parabolic bend and responsiveness to the fish, and they load perfectly.

I used to.. until I threw a squarebill on a Dobyns 705CG glass. No turning back for me after that.

This. I frequently use a 806CB for 6/10XD, it's graphite and i've never had a problem with it. I've used a glass cranking rod and I'd probably go glass for a pure deep-cranking rod.

I have that exact rod for my deeper cranking setup, its paired with a Curado 200E5. It works great, as mentioned before it is slightly heavier than graphite but not much at all. Anybody I handed the rod to did not realize it was glass. I have not found any little annoyances with it at all. I have thrown 16ft to 22ft diving cranks without any concern at all.

well i have the 705CB (glass) and love it.  Awesome for cranks, awesome for bladed jigs too.  Haven't thrown much else with it, but sure it would even handle spinnerbaits and perhaps topwater too....  really awesome rod, glad i went with the glass even though i have no comparisons to make to graphite.

Own the 684CB 685CB and 705CB I found with Dobyns the taper/bend is good enough in the graphite I'd rather take the lower weight and increased sensitivity, although minimal, over the glass. 765CB is on my list of rods to get.

I have the 765CB in graphite and I pair it up with a Zillion 4.9:1. I absolutely love this rod for deep cranking. I throw everything from a DT10 and up with it and I find it to be the best cranking setup I've ever used. I have never used the glass version, but I prefer graphite more in general over glass. I prefer the lighter weight and sensitivity of graphite. 

 

I also own the 684CB in graphite as well and I use this rod for squarebills and small jerkbaits. Again, this rod is perfect for this application.

Ive used the 765 Glass, 805 graphite, and 806 graphite, not to mention countless other brands of graphite, glass, and composite cranking rods.  My preference is the graphite with Dobyns.  Many brands graphite cranking rods dont flex enough with the fish leading to lost fish, but I dont have that problem with Doybns.  The glass is a great rod too, but is a little less sensitive than the graphite.  I have found no advantages of the Dobyns glass over Dobyns graphite.  The 805 is my favorite 6XD rod!

Hard to beat a Diawa Tatula IMO. You can fined them for $110 and eh will absolutely sling a crankbait!
