Some very popular baits that I HAVE USED, but I do not care for:

Zoom Super Flukes............I like this "type" of bait (soft plastic jerkbait) but not the Super Fluke,

Brush Hog baits of any size, style or brand

Anything with the name Rapala on it.

The Luck-e-Strike Rick Clunn jerkbaits and squarebills

Z-man or SK plastics made of elaztech

Any and all umbrella rigs

Tubes

Owner and Trokar hooks

Just about everything Missile baits makes

Spot remover jig heads

And these jumbo crankbaits like the SK 10xd

Funny I have very similar thoughts on popular baits that I HAVE USED, but I do not care for.

Zoom Super Flukes or any fluke.

Brush Hog although I kind a like the baby version.

Luck-e-Strike anything pretty much. Even their worms feel extremely cheap.

Any and all umbrella rigs

Tubes I'll use but find other baits more productive usually leaving them in the box.

Just about everything Missile baits makes. Kept seeing people here bragging on the dbombs etc talking about them and I hate them. Those ribs never made one bubble I saw and they ruin skin hooking quickly once they pull through.

And jumbo crankbaits like the SK 10xd.

Pretty dang similar list. :D

I've officially retired the following from the rotation...

Jigs

Scatter Raps

Zoom Toads

Livetarget Sunfish

Deeeeeep diving cranks

Where to begin....deep diving crankbaits. Tried them and couldn't get a bite on them to save my life. Buzz baits, ok I have caught fish on a buzz bait but so many other lures can be used in its place. Like soft plastic topwater frogs like zooms horny toad or even just a plastic worm run on top of the water. Spinnerbaits with more than 2 blades on the arm. Those that haven't been fishing for bass for 30 years might not remember a time when spinnerbaits with 4,5 or even 6 blades were put on them. What a waste of money. Underspins, they were a thing about a decade ago, I bought some, never caught anything on them, didn't use them again. Then last year they became hot again. Not falling for that twice. Bang tails (feathered treble hooks) I have nothing against them and some of my lures have them but years ago they were the hot thing and everybody was switching all their treble hooks to feathered hooks. Tried it, didn't work. I'm gonna cut this short, I've got plenty more but it just makes me angry how much money I've spent on things that didn't work.

For me it has to be a spinnerbait, and a ribbon tail worm

ned rig fished it all spring to no avail ild much rather throw a full size senko rigged any way you can althogh i have not tried wacky rigging a turd

tornado spinnerbait that BPS sold.had 5 of em, used em never caught a fish.........oh well live and learn.

Field and stream sugar stix soft plastics. They were 5 for 5$. Tried some of each (senko knockoff, creature bait) and never got a single bite.

Then recently I read that fish can't stand the taste of sugar. Don't know how true that is but these baits are junk in my opinion.

The LH frog!!! Comes back like a water balloon right out of the package...as soon as it hit the water it turned into a swimming frog!! Oh well..win some ya lose some.

The Ned rig. Can't buy a bite with that thing. Starting to think that perhaps this is due to most of the water I fish being stained to heavy stained and this serms like it would be more effective in clearer water. Next would be the Live Target Sunfish. Man, I really thought that thing was going to slay them since bluegill are a primary forage around here. Also, I am embarrassed to admit that I fell for the Banjo Minnow infomercials when I was 12. Man, I was so stoked to open that as a birthday present, only to proceed to not catch a single thing with them.

Norman crankbaits......  PRADCO bought them out and now they are made overseas.  Very disappointed.

Jackall cover craw are terrible.

Gene Larew rattlin craw are terrible.

Snag Proof Moss Master Tournament Frog have zero action and are terrible.

All BOOYAH! jigs are terrible.

That about sums it up! Thanks for letting me vent.

I almost listed that one too... Only reason I didn't is because I had several fish blow up on it.  I missed them all after watching several take it all the way down and solid hook sets.  I think its a great concept but they need to make the body softer.

Academy sells a h20 version, with that one i get way more hookups. And it even looks better

So in this thread a year ago I said I was most disappointed in a fluke.  And a year later I still haven't caught a fish on a fluke... because I haven't used one!  Right now I'm most disappointed in the Ned Rig.  I've caught a couple fish on it, but for me it definitely hasn't been the magic bait that it seems to be for most people.

Same for me on Ned Rig - although...I do rig it up on my little kids lines and it is easy for them to catch fish on.

I haven't rigged it up on my grandson's Spiderman rod yet.  The little squirt already outfishes me with bobber and worm.  If he outfished me using a Ned Rig I might have to take up golf...

There's still a lot of older ones floating around out there, get 'em while you can.  Not much news on what they're doing with the entire line yet.  They were based in my hometown (just outside it) and so is a division of Pradco.  They haven't made any more announcements that I've found since the acquisition at the end of last year.

While these do fill up with water, I have had a few outings where swimming that thing with the kicking legs an inch or two under the surface was the ticket and the fish tore it up.

well...I guess it is time for me to get crucified.

I honestly don't like any of the rage tail stuff except the big cut tail worm.

To me the rest of the stuff is over hyped.

and to really nail me to a cross...

Hardgills are a bit overrated IMHO as well...

not to say they don't work just not so much more effective than other baits to create such an odd S&D whirlwind they create.

(however no...I am not selling the hardgills...the SK stuff is free to whoever goes to my house!).

Top water is certainly my weakness and it could be no fault but my own. However, I just cannot catch fish on my Pop Max/X's or Spooks. I recently bought a Whopper Plopper hoping that it will do the business for me, but only time will tell.

Lipless crankbaits have never produced for me. I fish a lot of small stained waters that have decent depth. I think the rattle traps spook fish more than they attract them. I've tried multiple brands and designs but with no luck.

Also, I had to double take when someone put Owner hooks as a disappointment. That is ludicrous.
