Kentuckysteve Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 I tie them with feathers and also bucktail on smaller hooks.I use them on inline spinnerbaits that i make. Not hard at all.Buy a cheap fly tying vise or use vise grips.Get some black hackle feathers and your thread. You can also use braided line instead of thread.Brush it with superglue or epoxy when finished.A lot cheaper than buying them! Steve's right... it's very easy to do. You can buy whatever hackle colors you like and don't need any special tools (assuming you have a pair of ViseGrips at home). Just be sure to buy feathers sold for fly tying. You might find some very inexpensive hackle at a craft store, but the odds are the dye is probably not waterproof. A small package each of black and white hackle will probably cost you less than ten bucks and will dress a LOT of trebles! Tight lines, Bob Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 Buy strung saddle or chinese neck hackle They are usually the cheapest. Don't buy expensive dry fly hackle, there's no need. Quote
