Being an avid YouTube fan and someone who loves writing + sharing about bass fishing, I've always wanted to start a YouTube channel. But I don't want to shell out the money for a GoPro. Is there a video decent camera that can be gotten for a budget price? I don't have a specific range but under 200 definitely and probably more like $100 or under is what I'm looking for.

Don't know if it's doable, just checking to see what you guys use/think.

a buddy of mine sent me a link to one the other day....  looks like a total ripoff of the gopro, but i don't know for $80 may be worth a try.....

If anyone tries that out let me know the results. For $80 I don't think you can get hurt though.

Garmin Virb -

Very easy to use - and  if I'm saying it, you know it's got to be practically stupid-proof.

Almost all digital cameras shoot HD video these days which makes all of them a lot more versatile than the GoPro and cheaper. Those GoPro ultra wide shots are so annoying for anything other than tight shots, I can't even watch a video shot on a GoPro.

I use the Garmin Virb Elite for my videos. Super easy to setup, lots of accessories out there, and like A-jay said it's pretty much idiot proof. I'm pretty technologically challenged and I figured it out really quickly.

you two aren't the first that i've heard that from.  for a guy like me that's a little dumb on videos/photos sounds like a pretty good option.

i always wonder if i would take the time and actually edit them and so forth.

Does the Virb have software that it comes with to edit the videos? and if so, is it just as easy to use?

Thanks guys for the responses. I'm leaning toward the GeekPro. Looks pretty sweet, and it goes on a chest/head mount much better than the Virb Cam or the Ion Air (I don't have a boat.) I think I'll wait a few months and use Birthday money for it. By then it should have some solid reviews and not just promotional stuff, and I may be able to snag one for a good price on Ebay.

Thanks!

Check out the Kodak playsport, It is dust, shock, and water proof out of the box. I got mine for around $140 with a couple accessories.

probably going to get it myself!

I upload mine to Youtube and use their basic editing feature. I'm not trying to start a Youtube channel or make a fishing video so I'm not real worried about making a professional looking video.

He is a ham whenever the camera gets turned on. Can barely talk but he already says "Cheese!"
