Super User Senko lover Posted August 17, 2015 Super User Posted August 17, 2015 Being an avid YouTube fan and someone who loves writing + sharing about bass fishing, I've always wanted to start a YouTube channel. But I don't want to shell out the money for a GoPro. Is there a video decent camera that can be gotten for a budget price? I don't have a specific range but under 200 definitely and probably more like $100 or under is what I'm looking for. Don't know if it's doable, just checking to see what you guys use/think. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted August 17, 2015 Super User Posted August 17, 2015 a buddy of mine sent me a link to one the other day.... looks like a total ripoff of the gopro, but i don't know for $80 may be worth a try..... http://www.amazon.com/GeekPro%C2%AE-Shockproof-Waterproof-Camcorder-Underwater/dp/B00ZKDUFBQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1439846091&sr=1-1&keywords=geekpro 1 Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted August 17, 2015 Super User Posted August 17, 2015 If anyone tries that out let me know the results. For $80 I don't think you can get hurt though. 2 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted August 17, 2015 Super User Posted August 17, 2015 Garmin Virb - http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Action-Camera-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00EOHUVV8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1439847723&sr=1-1&keywords=garmin+virb Very easy to use - and if I'm saying it, you know it's got to be practically stupid-proof. Super User Scott F Posted August 17, 2015 Super User Posted August 17, 2015 Almost all digital cameras shoot HD video these days which makes all of them a lot more versatile than the GoPro and cheaper. Those GoPro ultra wide shots are so annoying for anything other than tight shots, I can't even watch a video shot on a GoPro. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 18, 2015 Global Moderator Posted August 18, 2015 I use the Garmin Virb Elite for my videos. Super easy to setup, lots of accessories out there, and like A-jay said it's pretty much idiot proof. I'm pretty technologically challenged and I figured it out really quickly. 3 Quote

Does the Virb have software that it comes with to edit the videos? and if so, is it just as easy to use? 1 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted August 18, 2015 Author Super User Posted August 18, 2015 Thanks guys for the responses. I'm leaning toward the GeekPro. Looks pretty sweet, and it goes on a chest/head mount much better than the Virb Cam or the Ion Air (I don't have a boat.) I think I'll wait a few months and use Birthday money for it. By then it should have some solid reviews and not just promotional stuff, and I may be able to snag one for a good price on Ebay. Thanks! Quote
AdamsEye Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Check out the Kodak playsport, It is dust, shock, and water proof out of the box. I got mine for around $140 with a couple accessories. 1 Quote

I'm not trying to start a Youtube channel or make a fishing video so I'm not real worried about making a professional looking video. 3 Quote
