Having Trouble Getting Bass In Central Nh

Hello All. 

 

I'm located up in the lakes region and I'm having great difficulty getting bass. I mainly fish on large ponds and small lakes. Pemigewasset and Wicwas to name a couple. It's your typical North Eastern lake relatively weedy and it's deepest point is about 40 feet. I actually went out today and managed three annoying pickerel. No bass. I was mostly using topwater lures like the floating rapala and the heddon spook jr. But with all the vegetation grown in it makes it so difficult to get in there. I tried a simple 6" texas rigged rubber worm dragged on the bottom in around 15ft of water but that didn't seem to get any interest. Later, I tried a super fluke but again no interest. 

 

I was using my fish finder and I noticed the surface temp was 80# degrees! Insane! This makes me think the bass are down deep so I guess, the question I'm eluding to is how do you fish deep water?

 

I know shallow water can produce large fish but with all the vegetation it's so tedious. I'm still learning but it's so frustrating going out on a seemingly perfect day only to catch nothing. Maybe some of you can point me in the right direction on what lures/baits to use in the dog days of summer in New England.

   I, posted on the Illinois forum about the fish I've been getting lately. The  surface water temp the last two weeks on our waters was 81 and 82 degrees. With that said, I was getting fish in 6-8 feet of water in weeds or on  the edges with-in about a 2 or 3 hour window. Once that window was over I couldn't buy a fish on the lake. I am not a deep water fisherman and will only fish max 15 feet of water. However my go to bait is always a jig and I can always get a bass to hit a jig. So you might want to drag a jig or pop it off the bottom with a trailer. I'm sure you will get bit. If you need more info, PM me.

  A drop shot or a wacky rigged 4 inch senko is they way to go right now. You've got to get offshore right now. A lot of fish are deep right now. With the water temps maxed out for the year a lot of bass have moved deep, 15-35 ft. Find a very steep drop off or a main lake point. Fish off of shore in 15-35 ft. If you decide to drop shot a kvd dream shot or a Berkeley gulp minnow work pretty well. If it is calm a wacky rigged senko will always catch fish if you can be patient enough for it to sink down 15-20 ft.  It seems that when it is as hot as it has been a lot of fish tend to suspend which is the hardest fish to catch in my opinion, a slow falling wacky rigged 4 inch senko will catch them. If fish are holding tight to bottom a drop shot will get the job done. Light line will get you more bites right now as well. I prefer 8 lb fluorocarbon.
