i have only been bass fishing for a couple of years and have most always used rubber worms with pretty good success. i was reading on here about how good jigs work, so i tried them out, but haven't had any luck at all with them. i've been using a slow to moderate steady retrieve, or letting it fall and jerking/reeling it a bit... any suggestions?

my main presentation with jigs is : cast it near any cover you can find, let it sink to the bottom, and just slow drag it on the bottom with an occational hop. good luck and keep at it!

I like to use jigs. I pitch them to my target, let it drop to the bottom, and sit there for a minuet. Then i'll lift my rod tip to feel for pressure and tail vibration (most of my fish caught on jigs don't telegraph a hard tap-tap type of bite but pick up the jig and try to swim off with it).

If I don't get any action letting the jig sit, then i'll switch to letting it fall to the bottom of my target area, lift the rod tip and slowly move (drag) the jig about and inch or two, then let it drop to the bottom again, then i'll shake my rod tip a little (I like to use rattle back jigs with a power craw trailer), and repeat until I think my jig is out of the pickup zone..

Just my style, good luck, jigs can be fun...

i also pitch to a target and let it sit for a bit.then hop or shake it.also i like to bounce it off of sunken tree limbs.give you self some time to gain confidence in the jig.confidence is key. :)

the main thing i had to learn was to slow down and let the jig do the work ..... never fish a jig on a slack line ,,,, like snaping the rod tip ..... rather use the rod tip to move the jig up or let it down .... keep your line tight from rod tip to jig ,,,, you will feel the bites .... i like a flour line this year im useing a p=line halo in the 15lb ,,, this line sinks ..... letting me keep that line tight .... :)
