CarpKing Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Can anyone suggest a good fishing app for phones. I found one, but was wondering if there is a good one for fishing? Thanks Quote
CarpKing Posted August 15, 2015 Author Posted August 15, 2015 App looks good. Will certainly try it out. THANKS! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 15, 2015 Super User Posted August 15, 2015 Be prepared before you go. The only phone app I use is for the stock market or a news feed. Quote
Jaderose Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 My thought for a phone app? Shut it off...stick it in the glove box....fish. 3 Quote
MN_Bassin Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Weather Bug or some other weather app. They aren't fishing apps, but definitely will come in handy while on the water. Quote
Kentuckysteve Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 My phone is a tracking device for my wife.I leave it off when fishing! 1 Quote
Preytorien Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 For me, as a frequent river/stream wader, I have an app called RiverCast that allows you to look at river stage height for locations the USGS has such stations set up. By default it shows you the flood stages and such, but since you can create custom assigned stage levels, mine has levels such as "Too High for Wading" stage, and "Very Shallow to Wade" stage, and my favorite "Go Fishin!" stage. It's very helpful and provides stage information in a graph form every few hours. Check it out. I also use an app that gives me the exact sunrise and sunset times. I like to know when to start fishing and have enough time. Other than that, I use the weather....particularly Dark Sky since it will push rain/precipitation notifications to you that are freakily accurate. Quote
MDBowHunter Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Scout look fishing weather, it gives you all your solunar details. It even has an awesome fish log where you snap a pic of the fish and it will automatically fill in location, time, date and solunar details. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 15, 2015 Super User Posted August 15, 2015 SailFlow for wind forecasts Quote
FinCulture Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 well what're you looking for out of said apps? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 16, 2015 Super User Posted August 16, 2015 The forcast a part of my inhome prep work for target species and headed location, gives me an idea of what to expect. On the big water rough weather can be seen probably 50 miles, can go around it or come in, make sure I'm not but a few mile offshore. Weather danger is my biggest concern. Fishing wise, I've decided on the tackle for day before I head out. The phone is pretty much used only to make or receive important calls, my wife would notccall unless it very important. Quote
joeblowwwww Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I use Fish Brain... its a piece of crap with a bunch of guys posting fish with the worst weight guesses. but it lets me know whats going on at different spots without having to call anybody. 1 guy had a fish that was about 4 lbs he posted as 13. unbelievable. Ha Ha Quote
dumfish Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Myradar is good for storms approaching my boat on the water. Quote
Brian6428 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Only app I use is The Weather Channel when I need to check the weather to see if there are storms in the area. It has an hourly forecast and a radar map, both of which are useful to the fisherman. Quote
