Fishwhittler Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Cracked paint, anyone? What do you think? Ben Quote
whittler Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Ben, can't tell for sure by the picture but it looks like an incapability problem with paints or topcoat. Quote

SkilletSizeBass. Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Looks cool. Neat looking paint job. I think CLU lures does a crackled finish on some of his cranks. Quote
Stringjam Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Very nice, fishwhittler. Crackle is an interesting effect....I'd like to try it sometime as well. Quote
bnwcrankin Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Very nice! I've tried it a couple time's but never comes out how I want it to. How long do you leave the crackle medium on? I usually let mine dry completely, is that what your supposed to do? Quote
2ManyCrankb8s Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 All though I don't care for the colors, the crackle effect looks good. Personally I'm thinking sexy shad colors with that crackle effect, or maybe a Tennessee shad! Quote
Fishwhittler Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks guys. Ben, can't tell for sure by the picture but it looks like an incapability problem with paints or topcoat. Thanks, but I did the crackle on purpose. Sorry to have caused any confusion. Very nice! I've tried it a couple time's but never comes out how I want it to. How long do you leave the crackle medium on? I usually let mine dry completely, is that what your supposed to do? Thanks! I didn't use any crackle medium though. What I did was spray the bait white with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust paint and while it was still wet I sprayed Rust-Oleum flo. orange on the sides and flo. yellow on the belly and applied a heat gun. Interestingly enough, I tried the same thing with Rust-Oleum flo. green and it refused to crackle. I guess the chemistry in the green is different. Ben Quote
kbkindle Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 did not work huh john we caught on to quick kb Quote

BobP Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Crackle is fun but it can be hard to get both sides of the bait to crackle in similar patterns. For those who want to try it, get some acrylic crackle medium, comes in a bottle just like regular acrylic latex paint. The directions say to put on the medium and dry it. It usually works better to leave it wet and overspray it with your color, then dry them both with a hair dryer. Quote
