Super User WRB Posted August 15, 2015 Super User Posted August 15, 2015 Nice rod. I see it's a fast action but the Dobyns a friend of mine has seems almost like an XF. I wish my local fishing stores had them in stock so I could handle it before ordering a $240 rod though...You can give Gary Dobyn's a call, he may know what rod fits your needs and often has a few sale items available.Tom Quote
MrBigFishSC Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Caveat Emptor on Veritas 2.0 rods. It's a solid rod but the weight ratings are off IMO. I bought a MLF spinning rod that feels like 1/2 way between M and MH. I was gonna drop shot with it until the first time I used it and couldn't get a good cast or feel a 1/8 oz weight and 4" bait. Anybody else feel the same? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 18, 2015 Super User Posted August 18, 2015 There is quite a bit of information available between manufacturers print outs, and internet customer reviews, that in itself is overload and leads to confusion. Much of what is read is techno babble, which doesn't really mean all that much. I honestly feel 2 rods of the same power and speed an inch or 2 either way is fairly insignificant. The overall weight of a rod isn't that significant either, it's how the entire combo (rod and reel feel). If an exact length and weight is desired then go custom, if you were confused before............lol, good luck. By caliing a manufacturer, you are going to get guided towards their products only, would Shimano tell you to call Fenwick? I've been guilty myself of getting confused and doing too much homework as to what's best for my uses. Having a med. rod for example that fishes light or heavy is not an indication of being a good rod or not, as long as you know the feel of that rod, that's what matters. Quote
