S. Sass Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Me and one of my fishing buddies have been tossing around the idea of a new boat. Im currently using a 1436 Seaking 1972 model. I was considering making platforms for it and upgrading the motor. It needs a new floor as well. And no matter what I do it wont get wider. The more I think about it I just want to fish. I know it would be a little cheaper to fix the things as I am capable of all the upgrades I just really want to start new. So with that being said I have looked at basspro and the TRACKER GRIZZLY 1648 MVX We just aren't up on all the models available and what kind of prices we should expect to pay. We were more interested in a package deal one that included a small motor 25HP max 9.5HP minimum. And really irritating to me is there are no d**n seats! Its sort of reminds me of back when they took the bumpers off the trucks and you had to buy a bumper for your truck separate from the dang truck. Who in the world needs a truck with no bumper! So back to my question where can we find a good deal on a boat similar to the one pictured above. Minimum length 14 to maximum 16 ft. size 48" wide prefer wider please, with seats, motor, and a trailer. The max and I mean the maximum total we want to spend is $5000.00 so please don't say well here is one its just $5500. If its going to cost me over $5000.00 including TT&L I'm not interested. I think its possible to do but we just haven't seen the package deal. OK well tell me I'm crazy or point me to the deals I know you guys know where the best buys are. Quote

Super User Master Bait'r Posted August 13, 2015 Super User Posted August 13, 2015 That right there is my dream project boat. Do it man... Quote
zachb34 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Buying new, that's going to be very hard or almost impossible to find. I have the 2014 1542 with a 15 horse 4 stroke, still no seats or deck, $2,200 for boat and trailer tax, tag, title. I shopped around and was able to get the motor which is also a 2014 for $2,000 brand new with the warranty. You're gonna have to go used and hope for a good deal if you don't want to give up a feature or two. 1 Quote
(='_'=) Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 theres also the tinboat forum, lots of well built tins in there... Quote
FinCulture Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 buying new, you're going to be way over your budget. The boat itself is between three and four thousand biggins, and im not talking about bass when I say biggins. a motor could go for another 3000 at the cheapest. just keep exploring for a package deal online or anywhere else you can. and don't glue yourself to the grizzly, be open to other options. If you look for any boat package in your price/size range as opposed to just that v-hull, you'll find something soon enough. Quote

Trailer is $1245 So I'm at $3679. Still no motor or seats etc . You may be right motor may be pushing me over my price if I dont find a deal somewhere. theres also the tinboat forum, lots of well built tins in there... Thanks but I want a new boat I do not want to do all the work to rebuild my stuff as I want a wider hull. buying new, you're going to be way over your budget. I am not stuck on the Grizzly I actually wanted opinions of other brands that may be good boats but are more reasonably priced. Like I said I am not up on all the models/brands that is why I asked here what others may know that may help. Quote
zachb34 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 The Grizzly along with the rest of the tracker products tend to be already the most reasonable priced boats out there. That reasonable price usually means they missed out on some details on the process. I know that's the case for my Tracker. Quote
NathanW Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 For 5 grand you could get a really nice 17 or 18 foot used Tracker Pro Team with 60HP or better Mercury.... I could list about 100 advantages of a Pro Team Tracker of over that Jon Boat. You buy new you and build it out yourself you will get, without question, the LEAST bang for your buck by a longshot. S. Sass Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 I understand I'm not getting the bigger badder boat. But I have small lakes that have no boat ramps. Not to mention many other small private lakes with no boat ramps. I want a boat I can shove off into the crud off in the nasty where others aren't able or won't go. This is why a small motor and smaller boat with preferably aluminum hull is wanted. Also I have used and worn out. I want new with warranty hopefully I can be fishing instead of working on the boat. And I did look at a pro team 160 and that boat was narrow as heck. I want a wide hull not sure if all pro teams are so narrow. I don't see the width specs on trackers site. Quote

WPCfishing Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I know where there's s Mint 14' Grizzly on a trailer with a foot controlled trolling motor, battery, Lowrance 4x and two pedestal seats for 2200.00 BP wants 4500 for the same boat. This one has been in the water about 10 hours. It's in Long Island NY. I almost went for it but it was just short of the layout options I want. Quote

zachb34 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 What year is your Tracker? Model? It's a 2014, topper 1542. I bought it new December of 2013. Don't get me wrong I enjoy it and it gets me on fish and the hull seems to move faster than the similar boats with the same power, but all the benches are flimsy and make flopping noises when stepped on, the boat rattles like crazy, and the paint chips from a garden hose. I was on an alumacraft jon and it seemed more sturdy. Quote
